I am New to SFV

Hi everyone, I have been a single mom for exactly a year when my boyfriend of three years moved out. I'm really excited I found this site. I belong to another group called Chicagomothers.com, and as awesome as the moms there are (they have become some of my best friends in real life actually), I have been in desperate need of some single parent friends.

A little about me...I graduated from law school in 2004. My daughter was born during my second year of law school, I had only known her dad for three weeks when I became pregnant. I finished law school on time, and was a stay at home mom until last year when I started working at a small law firm. I haven't passed the bar exam yet, as I really have no time to study!

I am working on a new product for single parents as well, and as soon as I get all the glitches worked out, I hope that maybe you all would be willing to help me out with some things.

Looking forward to getting to know you!

Ann

Just wanted to say hi - I'm new as well. I give you a huge pat on the back for finishing law school. My husband left (we were together 7 years) exactly one year ago. This past summer I got a wild hair and decided to go back to school and take two law/criminal justice classes just for fun. Two classes in a two month summer session was a bit nuts. I ended up with an A and a B and thought I was just the coolest new single mom ever. I now have to amend that... you are the coolest single mom ever to have had a baby during law school and to have kept on going! Pass the bar and give me a shout. I'd love to file an alienation of affection case against the office hussy that took off with my husband and got pregnant on purpose by him. Maybe I can be your first crazy client. He he he.

awww, thanks! Unfortunately, I didn't pass the bar exam...try try again, though, right? Working full time and taking care of a 3 year old is just not very conducive to studying. I'm pretty frustrated with myself, but there's not much I can do other than do it again.

As for you, I am duly impressed. I have been kind of just lurking around on this site because I had to log on at work, and I am just amazed at the stories and hardships the members of this site have pulled through. what I am going through is nothing compared to the strength and willpower people like you carry.

Law school is great in theory, when you plan on making tons of $$$, but when your life turns unexpectedly and you are left with more debt than the average person, it's turns not necessarily into a regret, but a good life lesson to plan for the unexpected.

Annie, Thanks for your post. It was through your post when I searched single moms and law school that this site came up. I have a 4 year son and have applied to law school. I have pondered whether I will physically and emotionally be able to endure the school, since I cannot foresee the future. I have a higher degree, so I understand the demands of studies, but I wasn't living with chronic pain, and a child. As with any endeavor, I face certain uncertainties and fears, but if one never tries, then you live life with regret and wonder at what could have been. Annie, do you have any suggestions in getting through this?
