Im not from ulster county but I am from ny and I beleive that you need to go to your local family court to get the papers for child support and custody.

Be careful too!!! When you go. You may be tired of your boyfriend. I was too and somehow during the court process we both got custody. Courts are tricky and I didn't do my homework first. I went in too quickly. Do research and get advice such as going to your support units like...I know this one just plain sucks but try it. Social Services. Or you can go around to therapists and they can give you a nudge in the right direction. Lawyers can charge you an arm and a leg. Also you might want to try going into court and then saying I want a court appointed Lawyer but make sure this Lawyer does what he is suppose to do! They get lazy with no pay clients. But its also based on your individual income. At the time I was able to get it for free! As for the car are you near public transportation? Do you have a local pennysaver? You can do a search online for charity cars for young mothers. And sometimes you can always find cheap cars that run pretty good! Just to get you where you need to go. Social Services may be able to help you with that to get you transportation. Why do you think New Yorkers pay so much taxes!! My taxes help pay my rent! So your not alone I was where you were and now living on Section 8 and finally got a great job joint custody with physical custody of my daughter. She will be 6 in less than 2 weeks. Its not easy I can tell you that much but it eventually will come together. If you are thinking of leaving don't let him bring you down and talk you out of things. Hold your ground! Apply for Social Services and Housing! Get child care subsidies and work but if that doesn't happen Social Services will help and when appling for Section 8 tell them your in desperate need. I did and got it real fast. Do it by going to your local city not your county that happens to be a looooong wait. Anything else you can reply privately and we can exchange email and I can help you through it through a messenger service. I am really good at computer searches. Take care and remember your not alone!!!
