ok, so i jumped over to this post, hope ya dont mind, cause maybe you were hopin for some REAL long islanders. So where do you live in Long Island and what do you do with yourself. It really is a nice place, especially the further you go out onto the island. I was still just a teenager when i moved out there and it was only for maybe two years, but i still have fond memories of living out there. Lots of seafood for one, i dont know how you feel about that stuff, but as a child my aunt dated a greek guy that owned a seafood restaraunt(called Sea Haven, maybe you heard), anyway i still think it was my experience of spending so much time there that triggered something in me that eventually led me to want to be a chef(why couldnt she have dated a doctor??).
Well just as some of my fondest memoirs of NY are those of long island, my all time worst memoir is relative to LI that being driving TO Long Island from the city on what was it the southern state pkwy? last time i visited the city and drove into LI i think it took 2+hrs talk about congestion ahhhhhhhh i swore never to do it again, id sooner take the railroad and rent a car when i got there.
SOOO.. when i lived outthere an uncle of mine had a small boat out in montawk, he used to take us out into the ocean(where his little boat didnt belong)scare the **** out of us. then when it would get dark he would sneak his boat onto peoples private beaches , we would jump out and steal peoples clams and such(he really wasnt a good role model i guess). Anyway my heart will always go out to THE island. What about you?

You ever go to Riverhead? A couple Summers ago we took the ferry from CT to LI, so we could go see a demolition derby at the Riverhead Raceway. The finale was a demo derby with 11 school busses...it was a great time...little Bobby was talking about it for weeks...

Long island is great i love it here. I don't get out much lately and i'm not much of a beach person. But as a teenager i spent alot of summers out in Montauk with my friends. It's great out there. The Hamptons are great to if you make a million dollars a year. Now in the summer i spend alot of time out east in riverhead apple picking and going to the fairs and stuff. I love a good street fair my daughter does too. There's a ton of stuff to do out here especially in the summer.

Hi, I am from Long Island! I know it's been more than a year since this originally posted, but I am new here and wanted to see if there are still any Long Islanders on the board. I know only one other single parent on LI and she doesn't share visitation with her ex (they never married). I am divorced and my ex sees my daughter once a month most months, two times other months. It is a long drive (4 1/2 hours). We meet halfway in NJ. Anyway, I hope there are some other LIers here!

Hey Hhaimky, I haven't been on too much lately.
When I am on, I'm usually in the fun lounge. Someone pointed out that you posted to me a couple of times. I had no idea. I'm from West Islip. Grew up here. I read you were from Hauppauge in another thread. My sister used to live in Hauppauge. I think it was on Lori Way. Anyway, she since moved to Rhode Island. I cannot email you because you don't have enough threads.
