Is there anyone at all even in the state of New York first of all? I am about to pour my heart out here. I am a single mom, not by choice. My significant other had some alcohol issues DWI's and is not in our household right now. I was left with 3 small children, and bills, and a van that was on it's last leg needing repairs and up keep and was almost homeless. I was left in a pitiful situation cause at that point November 9th 2004 I was only 4 months pregnant, and had no close friends and no family that I could depend on. I have tried to reach out to different agencies and places and have found nothing, and no one. People don't seem to understand when you say: Hey I am lonely, and depressed and have no friends". They don't take you seriously. A counselor listens to you for a few minutes, but then your out of her office and back in the same boat again. No advice or pointers how you can just meet one person like yourself to hang out with and talk to and visit wioth and do things with with the kids. I have never in my entire life felt so hopeless, sad, and empty. I don't know what to do from one day to the next. Weekends come and go and here I sit alone with no friends, activities, and outlets. What can I do to find friends? I am beginning to feel desperate here. I am 40 years old and don't have a life? No friends? Never any plans? Is this messed up or what? Can anyone help me? Is everyone way all over yander? Not just one person in my area? PLEASS?????? Some one please eventually be there. Thanks for reading!

(sigh), you are not allown, I haven't had friends, real friend for 18 year, my ex was mental and antisocial. Sure I knew people, but not friend. I feel for you, I do. There are people on this site who are in NY state, but thats up to them. I hope you feel better. Peace

Hi Cass,
I am also very sorry to hear you are feeling this way, makes me wish I was in NY. Do you do things with your kids? Go to the park, sports and things like this? Some of my good friends have come from my kids making friends. When one of my kids would invite a friend over I often invite their parents or Mom to join them. This way I get to know their family and sometimes make a new friend.
I know we are not all near you but you are welcome here anytime. Lots of good friends and people here.

Oh I did not mean to sound ungreatful to computer life because you all are scattred across the map. I just meant that I wish I could get the same luck in person that I have on line of meeting people to actually do things with. You asked if I take the kids places? Well I live in cold New York State right now and today it's cold and grey out and the wind is blowing........so there are no parks now. And remember my van is outta commision so that prevents me from being able to do much with 3 little ones 5 and under ya know? Thanks for being there for me to vent to.

Your kind words are like a ray of sunshine in my world. I just have no clue on how to find other people local to do things with. There is no one. Seems everyone has their life set, and has no room for new friends ya know? But thanks for your concern. I guess I've come this far eh? So I'll be ok.

I think my problem is that I have got so used to not having them, I don't think about friends tell someone mentions them, other then that I am numb. I do have many online friends world wide, I call them safe friends, no drama, no dropping in when your house is trashed, stuff like that. I have a few friends here, people I would consider friends, it matters little where they live. I think maybe a friend is someone when you cry on their shoulder, or gripp, they don't find other things to do, they listen, and help if they can. I wish you a wealth of friends. peace
