"Needs to Get Life" At A loss for Words - NOT! |
Post Partum Blues.... or Post Partum Depression. Oh it is such a huge task to take on even when you are older and married and everything was planned. It is scary as heck that immense love you never knew you had in you. Yikes, makes my stomach twinge just thinking of those feelings again. (((((HUGS))))) I'm glad you are posting, it means you are aware of your emotional state right now. Try and get through the first weeks and if you continue to feel like this please call your doctor. For right now your body is going through a HUGE hormonal change. It doesn't just stop being pregnant once the baby is born and it definitely takes some time. Plus, being a new mom just makes us so sensitive to everything I think....
I bet he's a doll! Welcome to the world little guy! How's your mom doing? Is she thrille, helpful, just unsure? |

"Moderator Proud father/grandfather" SFV JUNKIE!!! |
Welcome to the forum Polly. I'm sure that this is a lot all at once, turning 18, the new baby but I also think with some more time you'll get balanced out some more with it. This is just your first week, I get the feeling you'll be doing much better soon.
Congrats on your new son. |

OK some tricks I learned with burping I would lay them on my lap on their back, just for a half a minute even and they seemed to burp more easily when I lifted them back up to burp. Think of an air bubble in a bottle, turn it on its side then up again, kwim? Also if they are fussy from gas laying them on their backs and doing the bicycle thing with them for a minute or so... just gets things loosened up in their to float out.
Once you really relax with all of it and get used to this things will come without thought. I swear, the harder you try on some of this stuff (burping, feeding, etc.) the less response you get. One thing I'm sure of is he loves you and knows who his mommy is. |

"SEEKING: 25th hour & 8th day" At A loss for Words - NOT! |
Babydoll,
It does sound as though you may have some post partum depression but, being a new mom is overwhelming by itself sometimes. My mom helped me so much to relax and when I did relax, my daughter relaxed. The baby will feed off your stress or your comfort. My mother used to tell me, "There is no such thing as a bad baby. There are only babies that are content and those that are not. When mom is content baby will be." If you can take some time for yourself with the help of your mom or your friend it will help you very much. Just for a long shower or a walk or to read a magazine. I would definately talk with your doctor about all this at your next appointment. Take care.. we are all here to help and listen. |
