hi everyone...

first of all let me start by saying i am new here to this site...

i am a single mom of two beautiful pre teens...my boy is 11 and my girl is 12....

i have been divorced now for several years...and i am not finding that things are getting any easier....

every day is a struggle for me...between working and getting the kids to and from school with very little to no support from the kids father..

i live with my parents because i cant afford to live on my own in southern california...but to make a long story short...i can no longer stay under the folks roof....

i have been desperately looking for some kind of program that offers help for single parents...i know there are programs available for low income...but i make too much money for these programs, yet i dont qualify for anything else because i dont make three times the amount of the rent...and with my credit after what my ex did... there is no way that i could even qualify for a loan to buy a place of my own...let alone come up with a down payment...uuuuggghhhhhh....

if anyone knows of any resources that may be of help to me i would greatly appreciate it.....

i thought about finding a room mate...but as a single mom i am very reluctant...and always question whether or not i can live with anyone...

Hi justagirl,
Mostly wanted to welcome you to the site.
I don't have any helpful information for you, sadly, but keep trying. I know it's tough for a singleparent to make it when they are in between the income brackets of qualifying for most available programs and having enough money not to be concerned with the programs.
Best wishes.

Hey girl,

you should try www.coabode.com, it's a single mom housesharing website that can hook you up with other single moms. They have tons of available places, and they all come with a really good profile about the moms and their philosophies.

Good Luck!

Oooo...I hate roommates.
Last time I lived on the west coast it was in a $200 miniature studio apartment next to a train track...lol...anything is possible, it just depends on how much you can put up with.

Hang in there :-)

I have awful credit and I fall in that in between stage and I have learned that honesty is the best policy. Try to find a place with a private owner rather than a management company, then plead your case. I live in So. Cal. and I have moved many times and this is the easiest and most direct. No one likes surprises, so be up front about you credit.
