Yes, educational/social skills are lacking or at lest the use of the basic needed to call something an "article' .

Good God! This guy needs to get a hobby or a life. I remember that first post he had on there and that guy was proven to be a complete fraud. I'm wondering if that was the same person and he was looking for something to write about. Couldn't find anything all that interesting so he decided to make up the **** as he went along. My cents on this...

This guy isn't a kid living in his mother's basement. The people I know who are registered on this site, are higher quality technical people. Right now SFV is one of hundreds of forum sites that they've made fun of with a MST3K style commentary; probably forgotten and blending into the rest of his site. The real problem is that they're coming up in Google right under SFV, and people'll think twice about posting their SP problems if they see past posters have been ridiculed for it.

If we send him threatening letters, SFV will no longer blend in and he'll either throw the letters away or write about SFV again. They spend $50k on their web service and have 1000s of members active at a time. SFV spends hundreds of dollars and has ~50 members active at a time. They could really hurt SFV, and SFV really couldn't do anything back. It's not like SFV has legal resources, and Internet copyright is not well defined (especially for material posted on public forums).

If we send him a letter explaining that we have appreciation for parody but his review is hurting SFV's ability to operate as a site, then maybe he'll willingly take his review down. If we could just get it off the first page of Google, it'd probably be enough to fix the problem. How hard is it to manipulate Google search results? I know it can be done...

Anyway...that's what I think about this situation.

I agree with BB here for the most part...the exception being the copyright infringement.
Yes the site as a whole would have a battle in this area however members here who are posted in this articles with pictures do have recourse. Namely Lurch and Joey from what I saw. Public forum or not those pictures are copyright to the holder. They could request those pictures be removed and very likely without arguement they would be. The host of that site could be held liable as well would demand they be removed upon receiving a cease and desist order. When it comes to photos copyright law is pretty black & white. I spend a considerable amount of time myself chasing down copyright violaters of my work.

Thing is...in demanding removal of the photos would it encourage them to throw more mud and bring SFV to the top of their list. It's kind of damned if you do and damned if you don't. I haven't come across this site before but you can bet I'll be watching it from now on. Personally I won't hesitate to issue a cease & desit order if they pull one of my posts with my daughter in it and do an update.

A year and a half ago according to the post date on mine. Funny I don't see that this forum has been hurt if thats what this goober was trying to do. As to leagle I will think on that one, allmost makes a person want to sue like most of the world does.

Good points all of you. I still think these people are emotionally stunted dopes, but thats MNSHO, after all. Best course for now might be for members to take down any personal info or pics they're not comfortable with being seen in an indifferent or hostile forum. And treat this like any other troll intrusion, ignore 'em.

Well if I find anything about me on that website, I'm going to sue them. I have the means and I will do it.
