At 29yrs, I am a mother of 2 boys in my opinion hyperactive. the oldest is 7 and the other 3 years. I work fulltime and attend school, three nights in a week. When I am not in school or at work, i maximize on the time I have with my sons, whom I adore.

At times I get home from work and they are so excited to see me, am excited for the first 10 minutes and thereafter i get very irritated with their energy. my older boy, has of late asked me why I am always annoyed with them and it kills my spirit to hear such a question.

What can I do to have more energy for the evenings?

That is a tough one.
Some things that I do to make my evening easier is prepare meals in advance and freeze them. They can be taken out in the morning and then very little prep time after that. It really helps to save time energy and money. You can freeze almost any cooked meal. There are a few tricks and takes practice but is well worth it. I will make 6 or 7 pork roasts with potatoes at one time. I make roasts, speghetti, Lasagne, Stews, Chili, the list is endless. A lot of people like crock pots too. They will set them up in the morning and have supper ready when they get home, another nice option. It is amazing how just having supper ready for you will help your energy and time.
You may also be able to find some quieter games for you all to play. Board games, and cards are great and don't take a lot of energy.
Hope I was of some help.

Preparing dinner together as a family kills two birds with one stone (no pun intended).
