Hello all. My wife and I just seperated after 6 years of marriage. We are planning to divorce in 6 months which is when our state (IL) allows divorce.
My question is when am I able to apply for temporary cstody?
Do I have t wait till after the divorce or can I do it now?
I'm very worried about my children as my wife moved in with her mother, Who is an alchoholic addicted to crack and perscription pills.
Please any answers would be helpfull. ty

You should be able to file for temporary custody right away, at least here you can. That is what it is, temporary conditions until a judge makes a long term custody order that should be part of the divorce arrangements.
