I am about to take my 8 month old son on a 16 hour car ride to Florida for vacation. i was wondering if anyone knew what the "rules" or "laws" are about the child car seat. like i said my son is 8 and a half months and 23lbs. acording to the "baby car seat" regulations you have to have the car seat facing to the rear till they are over 20lbs....but i have also been told that you should wait till they are over a year old also...

can someone clear this up for me?? can i face him front or does he have to face the rear till he is a year?
