WOW! camping at two weeks? I couldnt even bring my baby out by then. Well... I guess it's different there. A tropical country like this one, people are prone to malaria and dengue carrying mosquitos.

Good one Paul....actually dengue fever is quite serious. have a friend who just got over it. Puerto Rico has been hit hard with it this year and it's been popping up here in the VI as well. Last year 2 young children died from it here. Keep the bush cut around the house and no standing water will keep the skeeters away but they fogged the island last week as well. Dengue fever not fun.

If you'd like more info...go here..

Thanks, I will read up on it..haven't heard of it. Smiler

It was a little odd, but all in all it was somewhat enjoyable. I think that I will continue my search for churches in the area before I actually settle on one, but this was definitely a new experience.

That is awesome that you took your son to church! Non-denominational is where I go.... it is Bible based.. I would stay close to a bible based church.. be careful to make sure you don't attend a church where they make you think they teach the bible to you, and then they add or take out some things. If you read it yourself it will be easier to tell....

HiI agree church is a good thing. My daughter and I were realy active in our church in Fl. But a few things happened and we just started going on Tuesdays. Seemed like the parster went on a left turn..but then when the new pastor tok over it mellowed out.
I loved the kids church I almost started going to it insted of the adult church.
Now that we have moved I ave been a little lost. I guess I need to get us to another church where we fix in. It more like a feeling of home not fitting in. We will find our notch.

I think it is great that you started taking Trey to church. I will be going through the same process as soon as Lyla gets a bit older and may possibly sit still a second. I was raised Catholic, and will be seeking a non- denominational church also. Good luck with your search, I know you will find the one that is right for you.

One of my fun things on my list are to take Kai to church but I feel hypocritical as I am more spiritual than religious. I was born and baptized(sp?) Catholic, went to Lutheran then nothing and I feel like it would be wrong for me to go just to expose my daughter. My mom took her to church for a while off and on but hasn't in a long time. My daughter goes to a christian daycare and they pray and talk about God and what not. Which is fine.

But I dont know what is right because I certainly dont want to go for the wrong reasons. I guess the Catholic thing just got to me and I dont believe in half the stuff they have in that.

I go to a Unitarian church and love it. It's non-denominational and they really focus on doing good in the world (lots of social justice and environmental programs, working with homelessness and hunger, etc..) They also teach the kids about all religions in Sunday school, which I love. I don't want to push Bridger into a religion, but I really like the sense of community there and I want him to be knowledgeable about all the belief systems out there.

Proudpapa, I'm thinking this seems like a difficult situation for you. One where you may need to take care of yourself as well as your boys. Maybe cut your visits to your old church to once or twice a month so you can start to heal, and the other weeks worship with your boys in "your" way, where you feel safe.
