ok i know no-one wants reminding how quick christmas is coming but....
im stuck at what to get my ex from our little girl.
i was wondering if any of u guys could come up with ideas about the sort of things a guy would appreciate from their daughter (i know its the thought that counts and the fact its off her would make it special but im outta ideas).

the first year i got him these cufflinks with amber stones in them (symbolised her name ya know?) which he loved. he wears shirts to work so he got a lot of use out of them too. plus he does loads of card tricks (geeky ex hehe) so last year i got him a nice set of playing cards with a silver holder which was engraved from the baby.

see i like something with a bit of meaning but this year im totally stumped. i would be so grateful for any ideas. any ideas from the girls appreciated too but just thought a guys perspective may come in handy here. tyia Smiler

Jayd gave me a father's day gift once that went along the lines of how much I mean to her. It was homemade and in her own handwriting on construction paper with pictures of us through the years. It holds more value than anything store bought.

Photos in a nice frame are always great ideas. Hope this inspires some ideas.

LBM,
JD has a great idea. Or I should say Jayd had a great idea. Maybe I could take it a step further for you. Make a scrap book of her life so far. Include actual foot prints and hands prints, a lock of hair, and anything else from Amber. Then for father's day, his birthday, her birthday, etc. you coould add pages to that book. It is priceless. Make sure you get acid free "stuff" so the photos and such can be kept in good condition.

I know from other posts you two have a pretty good relationship as parents, and he has her much of the time but, this would be something he would love still. As she gets older she can carry on the tradition you have started between her and her father.

thats a really lovely idea. only thing is amber is only just coming up to 2 years old so she cant really do anything like that (even with my help id basically do the whole thing ya know cause she cant write or anything). it is a lovely idea though.

something like that to do with pictures would be good, in a nice frame or something. thanks Smiler

A week or so isn't a while. Maybe it is. Darn Medal of Honor Allied Assault v 1.0.

Have you considered a PC war game for Dad? Seems to be keeping me busy. Smiler

AH, what are his interests?

Ps. Battlefield 1942 #2 is what most of my friends are playing, if he likes PC games.

JD,
I meant to include the ***** idea but Amber is a bit young for that..lol. I opened my jewelry box tonight to get Ev a necklace and found the bag with all her **** *****. Except the one she accidentally threw away. For that she wrote the fairy a note... I have that too. The next one's will be the wisdom , which I found out recently she will be needing out @ 15 or 16. Oh my early bloomer.

lol, I went through and reread your origanal post several times. I can see why you are having trouble. You want a personalized gift, not just a gift. Ok I went looking on the net, being as he wears suit type cloaths, I saw a "locket pocket watch" and chain. You know the type, the one where you can put a small picture in it and see it everytime you open it, they can also be monogramed. Also you may want something with your daughters birth stone on it thats allways special, or purhaps a lock of hair. Hope I have helped some. peace

How about professional photos of herself? Or you can get buy black and white film and take photos yourself and have a few enlarged. Add them in a book (of her choice) with some descriptive words about her and her dad: fav activitity to do with dad; fav food dad makes; night time songs they sing together .. you get the idea. She may not be able to write but the ideas would be hers. Write out exactly how she words things - whether or not it makes sense. Have her write her own name and if she can't, try hand-over-hand.

Just an idea.
