I saw it..
I would definetly have let her stay where she was. She was obviously happy. I could not understand why he did what he did. I understand the morality of what he did- he promised, but he knew where she came from. Tryin to make sense without ruining it..

Good movie, but Afleck's do not impress me much (way too liberal). Ben Afleck, Casey's brother, directed the movie and I actually enjoyed it. Great topic!

I hate chick flicks and it is definitely not a chick flick. Lots of cussing and gunfire. Not appropriate for kids. Kind of a "dark" movie.

Gone Baby Gone...Oh...this movie...
Yes, I saw this movie a few weeks ago or so and it has weighed on my mind ever since. It really touches on abuses regarding children and ethics involved in catching criminals and raises the question of which is better... well, again, I can't really elaborate, because I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it. All I can say is I had no idea how that was going to end.

And...I guess after thinking about it long and hard, I actually think that Kasey Affleck's character did do the right thing, even if I didn't like it. The thing is, you don't KNOW if that situation is going to change or sustain and so I think it is unethical to make an assumption and then make a decision based on it that isn't really yours to make. That's why there are professionals and advocates dedicated to lawfully pursuing such cases, rather than letting vigilantes run wild engaging in their own measures of justice. It's a sad world...but we still want to believe that people are redeamable.

I agree on all points! It was deffinately one of those movies you leave & want to talk about! I am with you in thinking Kasey's character did what he had to do. I know Morgan Freeman's heart was in a certian place (not sure if "good" is the right word to use) but how many people died around these men. Is that the "right" place..and were his reasons more self-motivated than child motivated? I can't wrap my mind around the fact that there are mother's out there that would just not give a "hoot" about their children like that! I think the best part of the whole movie was Kasey sitting & watching cartoons with the little girl...It said so much!!
* Did you notice his GF never said I Love You back??

??Are you sure you mean this movie? You might be thinking of a different one. This one was a drama about child abuse/neglect/abduction.

OKAY-IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE MOVIE YET, DON'T READ WHAT I'M GOING TO SAY-I DON'T WANT TO SPOIL IT FOR YOU.....

Man, I meant to come back here and I forgot about it! Jaylie you're right, this was an intensely thought provoking movie. And yeah I did notice that his girlfriend didn't say "I love you" back and was really mad at him for doing something that was his legal and ethical obligation. Doing something that is ethically right, sadly doesn't always mean following our moral convictions, even though I still felt that it was weird that Morgan Freeman's character et al just abducted her and let everyone think she was gone to get custody. It was wrong. I thought it was weird at the end with his girlfriend, like she was almost in on the whole thing, even though I don't know if she actually was. If you were spending all this time looking for a little girl and knowing that her mom was worried sick about her, why would you not be freaking out thinking "Oh my gosh she's ALIVE???" It was like she just immediately felt empathy for Morgan Freeman's character and not anything for everyone searching for this little girl (including her boyfriend). Weird huh? Good movie though, very intense.
