I am a single mom of a two year old and any resources would be appreciated. I am trying to get housing for my son and I my funds are limited.
The housing programs here in anne arundel co have no funding to help me. I have went as far as to contact the senator's office for some resolution to no avail. I feel as if the programs here in my area are of no help for mother's in my situation that are working and trying to make things happen. At this point I am desperate to find a solution to my housing situation to provide some stability for my two year old.
Any suggestions?
Angie

hi angie,

i am in the same boat as you. i am single mom to a 15 month old son. i just recently moved to howard cty - i got lucky & found a rental TH in my price range 3 months ago. the landlord is a cheesy cheapskate, but hey, its our own place!!! we were w/ my mom for the first year. what is your current living situation?

i wish i had some info for you - i am always searching & always hitting road blocks. i work fulltime & make decent money, but once i pay rent, utils, gas, daycare & food there is NOTHING left over. it's not fair that we are out here doing the right thing & can just barely make ends meet!!!

i think what really bothers me is seeing other moms who do qualify for rent vouchers & daycare voucher & they are driving nicer cars than mine & have nicer clothes than me - i just don't get it.

oh well, i just try to be grateful for what i do have. let me know if you ever wanna chat or vent. for now i am doing this alone - my sons father rarely comes to visit so i never really get a break.

good luck to you.

Hi Angie,

Recently a freind of mine in the same situation as you was looking for a rental. She called DHR here in Ga, and they had a list of apartments that pro rate for single parents she got a nice, big, in a beatiful neighborhood for about 250$ less than mine which is smaller. God Bless you!
