I miss talking to you guys. I'm back...life just gets too busy. But my question is today is WHY? Can someone answer this question. Why is the gas so high? In Connecticut I heard it's up to 3.65 a gal. OMG!!! The other day I paid 3.49 and I thought I was seeing things!!

It's called supply and demand. We are paying it, so they will continue to charge out the nose for it. I watched something interesting the other night on CNN or FOXNews or one of those newsy channels that stated that the problem has to do with Iraq having poor electronic accounting/banking. Basicly it said that all the money that is getting shoveled into the country is not reaching the people it needs to as they have no real means of distributing it. I found this pic in a forum about a platoon leaders stint in Iraq.

What is said about this pic is
quote:
This is how Iraqis get power. We called it Hajji-tricity. Basically when they lose power at some point, they go find a neighbor who still has power and they cut into his lines. This repeats over and over until the whole city is a rats nest of power lines. Its goddamn hilarious to watch them do this, they take no safety precautions at all.

Whether this is true or not, I don't know, but it does sound logical. Well, that is my 2cents on this topic, and I am burnt out on it already LOL....

DM, in Connecticut it's all about the taxes. I travel down there every other weekend and the gas is routinely 20 cents more per gallon than where I live. And I live in Taxichusetts so that tells you something....

Wow, thanks Trey for your 2 cents.

I don't watch much TV, so I don't really know what's going on in Iraq.

It's good to talk you guys!

Jenn, That's what happened here, it went from $3.39 to %3.49 over the weekend! Mad

I wasn't joking it really is here...
We live less than a 10 minute walk down the hill to my studio so I really don't drive all that much. Fact I probably fill the tank about once a month so I guess it doesn't bother me too much.....now paying 7 bucks for a gallon of milk...that tiks me off....greedy thieves...

Hannah,

I didn't think you were joking, I believe you...prices are going up just about everywhere.

I'm laughing at the fact I can't see myself driving a motorcycle to places. I probably hurt myself. It takes me half an hour to drive to work and I drive a lot...it gets tiring driving here, driving there, driving everywhere.

TTYL...or soon as I can...got to get back to wooooooork. Wink

Hi Dancingmom,

I was listening to a bunch of men arguing about some oil company had set the price of oil per barrel in future markets too high... thus causing our economy to pay more for oil than other countries.

Whatever that means??? I'm not an economic major but it sounded like someone bid too high on a low hand. Big Grin or do I have that backwards.... Confused

I just read an article last night that said pretty much the same thing--it's all about future markets. (I'm no econ major either, so I just nod my head and say "Oh...") I also heard about a month ago that for the first time in over 20 years, gas consumption has gone down in response to higher prices, but the prices just keep climbing. My own bitter theory is that gas companies are seeing more "green" vehicles, etc. etc., and therefore less use for them, so they are trying to get us for as much as they can while they can.

So far, I've managed to stick to my $20/week gas budget for the whole year that I have had my car. But I may have to fudge a little bit, since I'm now driving clear across town 4 times/week for baseball and teeball.

Well here in North Chicagoland,
Gas just went down to $3.51 and Diesel is at $4.49.
And for any one who whats to know,
AvGas (for airplanes) is $5.79 here.
Chicago is about 35 cents higher due to taxes, seams Sir Daley can't get enough.
ILL is talking about suspending the gas tax for this summer, yea right, I'll beleive that when I see it.

You should just buy a cow. That way you'll have your own milk machine and it would probably be cheaper.

Gas prices are insane. I have been working 6 days a week in Fort Worth a 20/25 minute drive, and I've just changed my schedule to only work 4 days now. On the slow days I just can't afford to drive to work and home to make nothing. And my boyfriend is about to have to start driving to me or throwing some gas money my way lol.

Luckily I only have a pedal bike!!
But of course, with the sky high petrol prices, everything goes up........

what is also frightening is that food prices have risen dramatically (some up 30%) lately and seeing riots breaking out all over the world.........poor people who are already struggling to survive, imagine living on less than a dollar a day, I can't............

in the west, what with the credit crisis and fuel prices, people are struggling to keep up........
