date tonight....I thought it was supposed to be just us, but it turns out that it's a couples thing, so now I am really nervous. I am a bit shy around her, and now I find out that there are going to be us and 3 other couples....WTF....One of my friends keeps telling me that it's my "audition" for her friends, which makes me that much more nervous....Whoa is me...I honestly don't like being around people that I don't know, however it is $1 margaretta night, so maybe a few dozen margarettas will help loosen me up a bit....any pointers for this old dog??

TD,

I was trying to right a decent comment on how there's nothing to worry about, you're a great guy, they probably want to meet the guy that's made her so giddy lately ... (this was simpler)

Just have fun, and don't go too crazy with the drinks.

aaaahhhh, the "audition" date. hehe. Girls (myself included) are so notorious for this - we meet a guy that we really like and we want to make sure he's a part of every aspect in our lives and meets every single person we know.

I would say you have nothing to worry about - rarely have a set a guy up on an audition and gotten a thumbs down. Just don't debate with the obnoxious guy-friend who will be there, don't drink too too much, don't embarrass her, and make sure that you laugh at their jokes no matter how cookoo they are. Then, afterwards, tell her you had a great time and you really liked her friends.

Only problem is, when she introduces you to her friends, she is now waiting for you to introduce her to your buddies... guys poker night, here she comes! hehehe

Best of luck, you'll do fabulous!

Hmmm, I might err on the side of less. Guaranteed, six other people, 12 other opinions. Does he drink like that all the time (even if you had only a couple)? Why was he so nervous, what is he hiding? Anyway, I know how my girlfriends talk. They are going to pick you apart anyway, no need to give them extra. Just MHO.

I think they'll expect you to be a little nervous, it's ok. It's who you are. Some women think it's cute, even. It's like an interview - look everyone in the eye and smile, be a good listener - hey I got it, remember the technique some public speakers talk about? Just imagine your audience in their underware.....wait....maybe not such a good idea....

TD, two pieces of advice:

1. Be yourself

2. Have fun!

If you do take my advice, I would like to respectfully request you share some post date details with us here at sfv... Smiler

I wouldn't worry about auditioning for the role. This is real life - very important to be yourself and if she's going to judge you on how impressed or unimpressed her friends were, then I would question her character. At least that's what I would want if I were in this situation. Of course with that said, don't get drunk and make a fool out of yourself either Wink. Good Luck!

Hey TD...If you're on "the audition date" that means she is really into this so that is a GREAT THING!! If you make her happy have no worries her friends will be happy too!! The girls will think you are smart, sweet & HOT and the guys will be happy that their girls don't have to hang out with their "single friend" anymore!! WIN/WIN!!!
But truly best of luck & ENJOY yourself!!

LOL, I just got a text message saying not to bother hurrying as she is stuck at work...She's a nurse and apparently they called her into work, so we'll see if it's still a go or not....

Actually I'd have to agree...you'll be nervous no mattter what...so have a drink so you can relax.

I know that when I went to see Heather for the first time....I had a couple of glasses of wine on the airplane...I was a nervous wreck!! Unfortunately they had all but worn off by the time I got there which really helped me to not....like fall down the escalator or something cause I was so shaky.

Have a drink, relax....you're dating her...NOT THEM. Smiler

TD, I think we all need to give you our cell numbers so that you can send us a mass text while on your date and let us know how it's going.
...I don't mean sit there and text while you should be talking to her...just go to the bathroom or something and give us the stats. Big Grin
Can you tell I'm superdy duper excited about your date?

...Okay, back to my lack of a life. Wink

Yeah Joey I'm thinking you're gonna do fine. I agree with the drinkers, one or two will put you at ease without making an A of yourself. If you want to kiss her later drink wine not beer : P on the plus side, if you make a good impression on her friends it goes a long ways
