Hi there! I am a single mum of three children ages male12, female9 & male5. I find being a single parent easy however I am finding it hard with the other person not there and my childrens father is actively involved in their lives. How do we overcome this empty feeling? I work full time, I am studying part time and my two older children play alot of sports so I am keeping myself busy.

Are you being sarcastic ?
Which empty feeling ?
I mean, you seem to be filling the 24h a day about 3 times with your work, your studies, your kids....
Please explain, I would really like to know.

Is it the empty feeling of being single, or newly single and raising the kids on your own, with no time for yourself? If that is the feeling you are talking about, all I can say is you have to be comfortable with yourself to be a strong single woman. As for your time, it sounds like you are tied down pretty good and maybe you should ask your older children for a little more help so you can have an hour or two to yourself.

Well does the empty feeling ever go away? I haven't seen my ex since July, haven't talked to him since October, had our son in March, and still cry myself to sleep every night. Does the feeling ever go away? Cause right now it feels like I'm always going to be sad.

Don't be sad ! It makes baby sad as well. Yes, there are different phases to the separation process, and being sad is one, and letting go is the last. You will get there eventually, in the meantime I will be thinking of you.

Sweetie, it does go away. Time does heal all things. The since of loss still aches in your heart because of our human nature. We are "why" people...Why does this happen? Why did it have to be like this? Why did he or she leave me? Why can't things work out and we raise are child together?

We have a ton of why questions...It does get easier. I have to disagree that being a single parent is EASY.....Like I said, in the sense of this site existing, if it were all THAT good would we all be on here looking for some type of RELIEF/ANSWERS???? I sought out this site because of my financial situation and the feeling of HELPLESSNESS...wanting to be the best mommy I can to my children and not feeling like the turmoil would never end....

Being a single parent has made me a stronger woman, but it was definitely not by choice, perse....

Best Wishes to you and if you need me, I'm here Smiler Smiler Smiler Smiler Smiler
