I recently broke up w/ a man I had been dating since beginning of April. Something was different about him from the start, but chose to ignore it. I didn't let him see my son face to face until a month into the relationship. We ended up sleeping together on the second date. Shortly after a month into it, he doesn't ask but moves himself in. I knew that wasn't the way I wanted it to go but he had his persuasions w/ words that convinced me. Shortly thereafter, he convinced me that my son was a total brat & started whapping him on the head & yelling at him. Granted, I knew my son needed straightening out, but I knew that was wrong too & told him so. He backed off. He then replaced it w/ spanking my son & I thought it was ok too since he was 'helping' me discipline my son. My son grew scared of him. Knew that wasn't good either. Tossed the guy out, but only lasted one night, if that because when we talked he decided to come visit me in the middle of the night to help make up. I've seen a few signs here in the posts about people like him & he's even said in previous relationships that he hated it when people would lock the door on him. The breaking point was just recently when he decided to go to my work & demand that my boss sign a paper he divied up requesting a certain day off for me! He threw in legal talk & stuff like that & my boss will not have him in her building ever again. He still calls/texts me nearly everyday asking for me to take him back & giving me the guilt trip; 'is this how you want our child to be raised? Without a dad always around?' He wanted one more chance to see if there was a 'spark' there; but I knew if I gave him that, he'd drag it on forever. Told him no & then goodbye!

Wow...UH...Good decision to get rid of this guy.
At least IMHO. Better no dad around your son, than a Bad one. Btw, Welcome. ![]() I'm a man of many mysteries and sides....SO many I'm practically round!! |

I agree with Paul.
This guy sounds like BAD NEWS!!! Good you got rid of him. I would be LIVID if any guy even laid a finger on my son......... He sounds very manipulative. Moving in without asking, going to your boss. He's bound to come up with a few more tricks to try and "win" you back. Don't fall for it, stick to your guns!! ![]() |

P.s. Never ignore your instincts!! You have them for a reason.
(I know, I've been there............ I am now very careful about who I let into my life, as I also have responsibility for my son,s wellbeing). |

Sorry you had to go through that...glad you were smart in removing yourself and your son from that situation. Not to play the "therapy card" but if your son showed signs of being afraid of him, you may want to seek counseling for him as well to make sure he overcomes this with a healthy perspective and still trusts you and make your relationship stronger w/you son.
Glad you made the right choice...stick to your guns and seek a restraining order if he doesn't respect your wishes.....you don't want to end up a headline on the local news... Take care and welcome! ![]() |
