Hi, Ok I am a single dad, and have full custody of my 2 little ones. I am having a problem with my job working with the State not wanting to accomodate a particular special need when I travel. So here is what is and what I need, and I am wanting to know where I may find some answers as to if they have to accomodate my situation. Hate to have to force it if it comes to that, but I have no other choice.

Ok I Have full custody as I said and have no local family to Watch my kids when I have to go out of town. When I do go out of town it is to one particular area that I do have familly, but it is in Southern Ca. and I am not very close to there. The State provides a state vehicle to take on these trips, but I am not allowed to have someone that is not a State employee in the car. I can use my own car if I want but have to pay for the gas to drive there myself. Which runs usually about 200.00. I am on a budget and cannot afford this. The State does pay for employees gas, but it is up to your Supervisor if you can use your vehicle and be repayed for the fuel used. I unfortunatley have a supervisor that for some reason won't allow me to do this, but has himself done it, and allowed others to do it. I feel I am being singled out, and talked to my Union, and they have said it's up to him if he wants to let me use my own vehicle for State travel. Is there any rights I have that can make him accomodate me, because I am a single parent, and don't want to leave my kids with a baby sitter for a week? Is there any laws that protect single parents?

Ok well thanks for taking the time to read all that, hope I didn't spell to many words wrong, lol.

Not sure if you've read through that site before. I can't seem to get into the site for Dept of Industrial Relations at the moment.
That I've ever seen there really aren't any laws particular to single parents when it comes to employment, and I am a small business employer.
