I am New to SFV |
I am only 18 years old and I have a daughter on the way. The mother and I aren't together anymore and she is drinking while pregnant about four nights a week. I feel this is grounds for me to get custody of my daughter, who is due within a couple of weeks. I have no way of proving that she drinks...Are mothers normally favored in custody cases? I really have no idea where to begin to get custody of my daughter.

"Board Parent" At A loss for Words - NOT! |
Really the only ones that are favored here are the children and thats how it should be. They did not ask to be here.
With that said, If you want custody of an unborn child, and you think that your child my be in danger. All I can say is what I may do. 1.) Talk with your ex-girl friend. Be friends with her for the childs sake. Talk about your concerns, get involved. If its to hard for you to work with her now, its going to be even harder after the child is here. Talk with her family, your family, friends, find a counclor to be a sounding board for both of you - so not to use your ex-girlfriend. Get in the Mix, allows ask - does it benefit my child? What is it that I want for my child? Good luck and maybe someone else here has been through the same... Robin ..:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:.:..
