I'm totally new to this. So Hi! My boyfriend and I are getting married in December. Today I was told that since I'm supposed to be getting support from my son's dad (he owes $10,000, has not paid a dime in the entire almost 4 years we've been broken up) that it will get like voided out, or changed because I'm getting married. Do you know if this is true? I haven't been able to find anything on it.

Welcome

Welcome

If you are talking about child support, the answer is no. It is owed until paid or satisfied.

Have you gone to support enforcement? They can be contacted tru the DAs office.

First of all you need to IMMEDIATELY file an order of contempt with the court because he hasn't paid! If you don't do this then he WILL get away with not paying! Do this ASAP!

Marriage doesn't effect child support, just alimony. Child support is a difference classification because that as to do with a little child who needs support form both parents, alimony being one spouse needing support because of the conditions of the marriage from the other parent. The situation changes once the spouse who RECEIVES alimony remarries.

Forget waiting for some idiot behind a desk case worker to get back to you. Go up to the court house and ask the front office there where to go to file an order of contempt. If you like, e-mail me through my myspace and I can send you a blank one you can fill out, just change some of the information around that is on it like the state.
