I'm thinking about terminating my daughters mothers parental rights due to mental illness and mental deficiency. Anybody knows anything about it?
Thanks |

A parent will not be terminated his or her parental rights for a mental illness. Instead the courts will order supervised visitation and order that he or she do things to help her mental illness so e or she can be an affective mother or father.
In your case she should be seeing a psychologist to diagnose her mental illness, and then and then whatever the psychologists recommends should be the next step. The courts NEVER want to terminate a parent's right to their children and only do so if the parent abandons their child, seriously puts the child in harm (sexual abuse, etc...), or the parent willingly does so. In your case if the mother wants visitation then no court will terminate her motherly status. She may be denied to see her child until she completes the court's list of demands to prove she won't endanger the children with her mental illness, but being order by the court is not abandonment where as her willing to walk away would be. |
