I had a great conversation with my lawyer today. It was great.

Strangest thing happened. The Texas Office of the Attorney General Scheduled my hearing for my son's Child Support on April 26. And guess what, my hearing for temporary orders on my soon to be ex is on the same date. Fortunatly they are both in the same court building. I don't think they are in the same court, but still.

My ex is including my son in the Temporary Orders, so my attorney will sit in on the Motion to adjust child support on my son. Just in case there is anything there that affects the case. Not likely.

We were scared that it would creat a huge problem. Instead it makes things really easy. Pop out of one court room into the next!

My lawyer finally tracked down the certified copy of the judgement against my ex. He went to prison for bank fraud. He always told me it was a plea agreement, and he went to prison so his mom could walk free. I don't know the truth of it. But my lawyer was having a hey day. She said she's filing it with the court at the last minute so his lawyer only has a little time to recover. She said as a statement of his character, it's a very hard to recover position. Considering all the other evidence that I have about him, it makes him look really flacky, and just very hard to trust.

Add to that, she got copies of his divorce decree, and marriage decrees, that show that he married his step-daughter. In Texas, that illegal. If it comes before a judge, it can void a marriage. Add to that, it's likely he was involved with her before she was of age. Point being, my lawyer has evidence now that can't be refuted, evidence that is really good.

The case is so strong, she said the fact that I'm out of work, if that's the only weak point we have in our argument, we really don't have to worry.

I'm thrilled. That's an understatement.
