Mad
I have a story to share,
My daughter’s mother died more than a year ago.
We were divorced, I live in Reno, NV, and she lived in Hilliard, OH.
We had a very god relationship, and talked often and visited each other, vent on vacation etc…
So she died.
My in-laws tried to keep her death a secret for me.
They hid my daughter from me, and the CPD refused to be involved.
So I finally get possession of my daughter, and we fly back here.
A few weeks go by, and I am being served with court papers, they sue me for custody.
Stating that since I am a foreign citizen, I can move my daughter out of the country...
Ohio has a “Grandparents right law” that they are abusing.
Any way, after about 9 months we reach a settlement and Kati is supposed to visit them each winter and part of summer break, and being a nice guy, I offer to help with airfare since I am an airline employee.
Two moths my employment ended, and I notified my in-laws that they would have to carry the normal airfare.
I heard nothing, not unusual; they also have phone privileges with my daughter that they rarely exercise.
Two days ago, I get an email where they just cancel the winter brake visit, not apologizing, not asking if I have other plans, they just cancel it.

That's too bad everything has had to go that way, and too bad that she won't get to see her grandparents for the winter visit. Since it's all been through the legal system I would be sure to keep copies of all communications, their cancellation of this visit, and keep a journal with dates as to what has transpired including any phone calls that were made. Other than that just enjoy the holidays with your daughter.

I will.
It just disturb me, I had $5000 in attorney expenses I still ove for no reason at all.
Also Kati's older sister lives with them, and they can afford to get her for xmas/winter break.
I will enjoy having Kati, on the other hand, as all other single parents, it would be nice with some time for my self.
I also had made arrangements for the break that now falls apart.
Some of you guys/girls strugle with deadbeat parents, I struggle with deadbeat inlaws...

Yeah, in the end it's all similar, when we hope that we could count on other family being part of, and then they flake on us. And no doubt aggravating after having them take all that legal action and expense, then still flake....
I can definitely understand the "time for self" thing, as most of us do. My daughter's mom is right here in town and still it doesn't make a difference. Like I'm going to miss an opportunity to go riding with a friend tomorrow, cold weather or not I could have used a day of two wheel therapy. Oh well, another time....

Hang in there.

it makes you wonder what happened to have them cancel the visitation - forgive me for having a very morbid thought process, but maybe something happened (illness, death, etc). it sounds like you have a tense relationship with them and they may not want to share personal information with you.

i agree with don =) enjoy the holidays with kati but this may be an opportunity to mend some fences. this is the first year my son is NOT going to visit the ex - she has burned a lot of bridges (long story) but my son will not visit her until she apologizes and changes her ways.

i suppose i am not a good person to rejoice in this but my son and i are both happy to not have to deal with the mess

good luck =) maybe instead of your original plans, do something extra special with kati, something you both enjoy

Love all, trust a few, do harm to none.
