In hopes of encouraging single California parents to pursue higher education, Capture the Dream, Inc. (“CTD”) announced the introduction of its 2008 Single Parent Scholarship Fund offering college bound students with a $1,000 scholarship for their dedication and dream of obtaining a four year degree.
These scholarships are open to all graduating college bound high school students and/or undergraduate students already enrolled at four-year institutions. Applicants are primarily judged on the strengths of their essays, community service, demonstrated leadership, GPA, and annual household income. Eligible applicants must be well-rounded individuals who have demonstrated exemplary achievements in academic, community, and leadership activities. There is no minimum GPA requirement and there is no application fee required for submission. All completed applications must be postmarked and sent to CTD by July 15, 2008 for consideration. The 2008 scholarship winners will be notified via phone and postal mail by or on September 1, 2008. Sponsored by PG&E Women’s Network Employee Association, this scholarship celebrates every single parents’ determination for not only a better future for themselves but also their community. CTD is a registered 501(c)(3) California nonprofit organization dedicated to helping underserved individuals succeed at school and find fulfilling, sustaining careers. The mission of CTD is to foster hope, love, and support to capture dreams, specifically focused on education and career. No dream is too small and no dream is too big. CTD has captured over 500 dreams to date and has been recognized in PEOPLE magazine’s Nov 5th Issue “Heroes Among Us” as the Empowerment Through Education Contest Winner.
