I am a 38-year-old mother of a 10-year-old daughter. I am currently an aide that has my provider number so I get paid through Medicaid when I fax my hours. The hard part is that I am considered self employed then. I have to take out my own taxes (more because of being self employed) and I have no insurance benefits. Another problem is that when my patient's husband retires, I will be without a job until I can find another patient on the same program (a difficult thing to do). I would like to go to college for nursing (RN). I know I could get grants and financial help for the schooling because of me being a single mom, but my problem is that they told me at the college that working even part time would be very difficult if not impossible. This is because their RN program is 2 years and they have crammed everything into the 2 years. I have a home, vehicle, duaghter and the usual bills that comes with those things. I have not been able to find anyone around here that is in the same situation. People have told me that there should be grants out there that could help with the financial aspect of living expenses and bills etc. while I attend school. I would even have a difficult time working in the evenings if I had to because I wouldn't have anyone to take care of my daughter. If anyone has been in this situation or knows anything about this, please, please let me know!

Thank you so much for your time,

no.1mom

I am a single mom, an LVN, work PM shift and taking classes to get my RN. Luckily I have a supportive mother that helps immensly. But there are ways to do this. First take it slow, one class at a time or one class on campus and on online(PREreq's) there are plently online. I dont know what classes u already have, but you can pull this off.
