On the Board |
Single mom of a 8month old & a 6 yr old. In the county we live in in WA state there's not much opportunity job~wise. I'd like to go back to school to become a vet assistant. The program is offered in another town an hour or so away. My family/support system is here where I've lived all my life. The program would only take 3 quarters or so to complete + they offer on the job training. I'm wondering how I can swing it? Plus, how it could affect future child support.

Child support is based on the income of both parents. Do you have a job now? Would your cash flow be affected?

From what I've heard & read, if either me or the ex makes more, then child support is more. I do have a job now, variable hours, a lil above minimum wage for about a year & a half. See..an that's what I'm wondering? How my cash flow could be affected..

Here in Florida it is based on percentages. let say for the sake of saying. 100 is an easy number. Together you make $100 a month. You make $30 dollars he makes $70. The state decides CS is $50 bucks a month. You are responsible for 30% and he is responsible for 70%. You would be responsible for $15 dollars and he would be responsible for $35. That does not take into account health insurance, if he pays for that it will be deducted from the amount in the percentages. You should check you state child support guidelines and go from there. Hope that helps!
