I'm really confussed on how to be a single mom, work full time, and go back to school!! I know so many moms do it but I'm not sure how to. Plus I've got to start from the bottom, I've got to get my GED and start at the bottom. I really want to better myself for my son and me. Any suggestions? Roll Eyes tinyt69164@aol.com

I currently a single mome, go to college full time, work part time and have a one year old son. The reason I can get away with working part time is because I get financial aid and I took out student loans but you can do that working full time as well. It may be best to start out going to school only part time...like two nights a week. You can still get financial aid for that and you can still take out student loans if needed and then you start your college education. I dont know what it is like where you live but here, in Cali, it takes six months I believe, to get your GED or it may not take that long but a few months. You have to go to some classes at night, take a test, and then you can enter college. Write back if you need more info. or just want to talk. Good luck

Hi there,
I am a full time student, i work part time, I do get financial aid, and I have a seven year old son. I definately agree that getting your GED is an excellent plsce to start. GED classes are self paced and you will be able to complete them as quickly as you like. I have seen from your profile that you are from Birmingham. We do not live that far apart. I attend the University of Mississippi in Oxford, MS. I staty in a two bedroom apt. with my soon and I simply love it. You wonder how you will fair trying to be a mom and student at the same time--have no fear. I am sure that whenever you decide to attend college there will be a world of opportunities available to you and your child. Concentrate on your GED and the rest will come easily. If you would like to chat further you can always email me if you like! Keep your head up! Oh and don't forget that when it comes to great universities, OLE MISS is one of the best!GO REBELS!!!!
