I am New to SFV |
hello, appy for your fafsa. It's federal grant money. and they just raised it for the school year 2003-04. It goes on your last years income and the # of kids you have. It's usually between $1800 and $3500 per semester. I hope this helps. I just went back and i'm kind of in the same boat.

I am New to SFV |
[qb]Hello I am in a bad rut I am a single parent thats on unemployment and I decided to go back to school state will pick up some but I would have to come up with $2902.00 for the first year and then the second year. my credit is not good considering its very hard out there especially if you only have yourself and no family to help. Please any one with and information, advise please help
Thank you please write me if there is any info out there for me this is my dream and I can't let the only thing that will hold me back get in the way of happiness thanks so much in advance[/qb][/QUOTE] I am a 33 year old mother of 2 older children and I've finally made up my mind to go back to college. Before I did though I realized I must be 100% debt free. I sold my home, moved in with my mom for a few months and payed off every bill I owed. I sold my mini van which was costing me $459 a month and got a cheaper economy car that only costs $169 a month. I then went to my mom and dad and asked them to help out. My mom agreed to pay my car payment and my dad agreed to pay my life and car insurance. I now recieve food stamps and my children and myself are on medicaid. I am now living in a 2 bedroom apt and paying $450 a month. I am currently waiting for section 8 housing to open up. I use my $500 a month child support check to pay a majority of my bills and work part time in a clothing store. I'm just wanting to give people some advice on how I'm "surviving". I didn't have to borrow a dime...so far. I also, of course qualified for a pell grant which, if you pick an inexpensive starter college to go with, should pay for all of your tuition and your books and maybe even a little left over for yourself to buy lunch for you and the kids at mc d's ...lol. The older I get the wiser I get on how to handle my finances. I hope this helps someone out there. |
