How high can a child's temp get with a ear infections? My daughter has been sick for weeks- first it was pink eye, then a virus now ear infection.- her fever has been running up to 105.0 degrees.

Does anyone know - can you blood sugar run high only when you have fever ? she was up to 200's with a fever on her sugars but without fever- she is normal? Her "sperm donor" is diabetic.

What does the doctor say about the fever? If it gets too high the baby can go into convulsions.

105 is scary high! If it doesn't come down in a few hours, i'd take the baby into the office.

Hi
105 is too high. There could be something more than an ear infection going on. If you haven't taken her in already, please do. If you are concerned about the possibility of her being diabetic, it is especially important that you take her in to be evaluated by a doctor.

My daughter is six. Well, why I was worrying about her, so was the doctor apparently. He called and sent us to the hospital for all sorts of blood work. So far, the only thing that is wrong blood wise is her urine test. She has bacteria in her urine. He is going to call me tomorrow to check on her and let me know what bacteria. She was great today after her morning fever of 105.0 but now at night she is 102 so far. I just can't win.

My oldest son always runs a temp of 103 plus whenever he gets sick. I have to use a combination of Children's Motrin AND Children's Tylenol to keep it under control.

I pray for you and your little one tonight! Keep us posted.

I broke down Wednesday and called the doctor's office. Her fever was up to 105.0 - over 2 weeks straight of fevers. I said how frustrated I was. So he made us come in- she has a horrible ear infection still after two rounds of antiboitics. And her urine culture did not grow anything.-- he said probably had bacteria in her urine but it won't grow in the lab becasue of the antibiotics. Now he told me she has wheezes in her lungs possibly pneumonia. He gave her a shot of antiboitics wednesday- hopefully to clear the pneumonia, ears, and urine. . Now on thursday no fever at all. So thats encouraging !!

I feel for ya! My oldest (4) always gets a high fever when he gets ANYTHING! He got up to 106 and had febrile sezure, that was the scariest night of my life! Use Motrin and tylenol, and a cold rag. That's the only thing that gives my baby and relief. He had his first ear infection at three weeks old and continued with at least one a month, til they put tubes in his ears at 6 months. He was antibiotics for 4 months, 7 antibiotics straight because they couldn't get rid of them. He also gets pnuemonia at least once a year, so I know waht you are going through, it seems like it will never end, but spring is coming and at least with my kids, that means they will be healthy for awhile! My prayers are with you

The only time I ever had a fever that high was when I had pneumonia. I'm glad it finally went down.

My eldest used to have very high fevers, what we would do is give her a bath in temped water to bring it down. We never left her in the water long though, she would start shaking like she was at antartica.

My son had a febrile seizure when he was a year old,and I agree with 4strong,it was the scariest night of my life. His fever lasted for daysbefore it finally broke. They told me it was because it jumped from normal to a high temp with no in between so it was to much for the brain to process. What I always do,and was already mentioned,is to alternate between motrin and tylenol and give cool baths every few hours.I hope your daughter is ok now---let us know what the doctor said.

Wow, never had to worry about THAT high of a fever with my little one. I remember baths with Ice cubes in them when I was a child though.

When my little one had ear infections one after another he rarely had more than 101 degree temperature, and never really acted sick at all. I had ear tubes put in him as well, it was quick simple, and almost painless.

As far as diabetes goes, I think it's usually LOW blood sugars that cause any kind of a SHORT term fever, and it's usually slight enough to let you know you need to get something to eat.

And diabetes usually runs every other generation on the fathers side of the family. So if his dad had it, chances are, he won't, but your grandchildren might!

Juvenile diabetes isn't hereditary. I was told this by a genetics specialist. Adult on-set diabetes is very much hereditary however you usually only see that in children who are morbidly obese.

The fever issue is a tough one though since every child is different. My oldest son tends to run high fevers no matter what's going on with him. It's really not a big deal for him to have a fever of 102f. My daughter on the other hand, if she gets a fever over 101f I get worried.
