hi im looking into becoming a nanny and in high hopes to bring my 2 year old with me. i live on the north shore of chicago and that means a lot more high payed jobs....85+ of people at the park are nannys and usually only have one child. so i think my options are okay. what do you guys think of this? throw me the amount i should charge. here its usually is 10-13 an hour. but if they let me bring my son then what should it be? or should it change? it all depends i guess on who and how many and age of child i get. i have my own car too! any pointers could help!

well Bear I can give you the best from experience. I would not ask the question about bringing your child for a while YOu want to get a good repor with them first. I had this situation except I had no car. When I first was interviewed I mentioned that I was a single mom and that I was wondering if I could bring my child with me everyonce and a while to play with their child. I never right out said I need to bring her all the time. Most parents want someone who is going to pay attention to their child... So after working for a while and the other child met my daughter. I then posed the question of do you think it would be a problem if I brought my child to work. Usually they had no problem. However you should say you wouldn't expect anything from them that you would provide his meals etc. You want don't want them to think you are using their food etc for your child. Most will say oh no don't be silly but you want to make it clear that you expect nothing from them. I think 10 to 13 is a good price I would maybe mention that if you need to use your car to take the child to a class or something than you may need a little extra to cover gas. If you would like I can give you a couple of websites to nanny job sites. Good luck.

Shannon
