On the Board

This isn't a question directly related to Child care, but I know that those with kids in Childcare must have an over abundance of their childrens artwork. I know I have piles. I love that my daughter is inspired to be creative but after displaying it for a bit what should I do with it all? What do people do with the various pictures brought home by their children?

Suggestions Please before I'm burried!
Shailah

Most of the "typical" stuff I toss in the circular file (garbage can), simple as that. I do however have a good collection of the more special things.
As she's getting older now, that includes hardbound books that the school did with a story, pictures etc. (very cool)

I tend to have a wall that gets pictures rotated on it. We don't have anything stored up yet, but I plan on making a scrapbook of the important stuff from her first year in school (this year) and tossing the rest. I figure 3 is a good number of things to try and limit it to per year. After all, she'll be in school for a min of 12 yrs!

Oh don't tell my kids they would be so mad at me, but I to put it in the same filing system as Don. I keep the really neat stuff for scrap books and such but the rest goes. Just put it in the file when she is not around.
Blindsky, I think I would fit your profile for a sitter and I have no life except for kids. Bring them down. Big Grin

I too have folders and folders of my daughter's art work. As with Don, the circular file gets most of it except the really good stuff. Well, she is getting older and she is quite the artist. Evie has won art awards at school and is now in formal art (drawing and painting) classes for 2 hours a week. I have to get these matted for her art shows. The lady at the framing shop gave me a great idea. (The best work I keep) Give them as gifts to relatives. Add on the back a small journal paper about the art work, the information of the child at that age and if there was an award for the work. It makes great gifts to people important in the childs life and once matted and framed alot of it looks really great. You can get some pretty cheap frames if the work is of standard size. Unfortunately for me some of Evie's best work is on notebook paper because she did that rather than paying attention to the teacher.. argh! Those will get laminated and put in a scrapbook and she got a scolding.

Guilty! Roll Eyes I "File 13" also, except for those that I know my daughters and I will enjoy for some time, and those worthy of scrapbooking!

Of course, I do my "filing" when they are not around!
