I am New to SFV

I am a single 16 year old mom. I'm wanting to start college, keep working, and still have time for my son. Also...I can't afford day care so college and work is a little hard. I have heard of so many single moms getting financial help with school and child care I just don't know how to get it. If anyone has any clues feel free to let me know. I feel like i'm getting depressed or something. All I want to do is be able to support my son, be a good mother, and go to college. I just don't know how on earth I could honestly do all those things. I know its possible I just need financial help and i've looked everywhere I guess just not the right place. I have a feeling no one will read this but if you do and you have any answers, I appreciate them so much.

You could always fill out a FAFSA form. You can always go to your campus and check out the scholarships they have. Check your school's web site for financial assistence. I attend a community college right now and it offers hybrid (online and campus) and online courses. So I am only gone a max. of 2 hours a day if I take hybrid courses. hope you find some more info. you can always check out the campus single parent in the single parenting -issue section of the forum. you might find some info there.

Bmama,
Yes fill out financial aid forms on the FAFSA site and check out fastweb for scholarships you can apply for. I am considerably older than you are but have recently returned to school myself. There are quite a few things out there but you have to ask, ask, ask and sift through all the paperwork. There are many things out there to assist you with living expenses depending on your income. Go for it! I did and it is still a bit scary because it has been a LONG TIME! I just bear in mind that I am doing this for me and for my daughter.
Good luck,
Carla
