Hey guys!
Our names are Catherine and Lisa and we are currently studying nursing here at college in Scotland. We would be very grateful if you could fill in our questionaire as its part of an essay needed and would rather get the information needed by mothers themselves and also teenagers. It is completely voluntary and under no circumstances should you feel forced to say anything you dont want to. We would really appreciate if you could just reply to this post!

Thanks Very Much!

1.Where are you from?
Naugatuck, Connecticut, U.S.A.

2. What age group do you put yourself?
(A) Under 18 (B) 18-30 (C) 30-60 (D) 60+
B- I'm 18

3.Are you aware of the amount of teenagers getting pregnant these days?
1/3 I believe

4.If so, what are your views on this?
Age shouldn't matter, as much as it does.

5.There are girls as young as 11 years old becoming mothers what are your views on this?
That is way too young to be even sexually active in my opinion, but if a girl feels ready enough to take part in such activities, she should be aware of the consequences & be prepared for them. Things happen, condoms break, birth control doesn't always work & one guys "oops" may lead to a child. Most of these girls don't even think about these things which is horrible.

6. Do you think that teenage mothersbecome mature very quickly and are just as good mothers to their babies as older mums?
I believe they can be, yes, I'm bias in this department though. I'm 18 & having my first child in January 2008, I feel I'm going to be one of the better mothers, but there are some who are just not ready mentally. Even then all of those mothers are not always so young, take my cousin for instance she's 10 years older than I am & i she found out she was pregnant now, I don't know what she would do. being a good mother doesn't come with age it comes with mentality.

7.Who do you blame for teenagers becoming pregnant and why? (e.g mother, school, siblings)

I blame the girls & their partners, themselves. No family or school board staff member made them take their pants off. True some teenagers do it to get back at family members & such, but in the end it's them who not necessarily ruined their lives, but made it quite a bit harder. Getting pregnant or having *** shouldn't be seen as a way to get back at someone.

8. Do you think that teen mothers or their children have problems later in life?
I think children who have younger parents actually come out better in the end. Every parent & child relationship has its set backs & faults, but I find that younger parents are trusted more & can relate better with their children better than most older parents.

Ps. good luck with your studies & everything at college !

Questionnaire

1.Where are you from?
Iam from Southwestern Ontario, Canada

2. What age group do you put yourself?
(A) Under 18 (B) 18-30 (C) 30-60 (D) 60+
Iam 19 (20 in 2mths)

3.Are you aware of the amount of teenagers getting pregnant these days?
Yep, In my highschool when I was there, there was about 6 people with babies/pregnant.

4.If so, what are your views on this?
I feel, people should wait if they can. Theres no need to have to grow up at 15yrs old. But saying that it can be the best thing that ever happens to you, with the right support and mindset, you can do anything, there are some really good teen moms, and some not so good, but thats with all ages too.

5.There are girls as young as 11 years old becoming mothers what are your views on this?
Thats young, I was 15, and that was WAY to young, 11...I hadent even got a period then, a body with that little experiance/estrogen..well im suprised it can handle it.

6. Do you think that teenage mothersbecome mature very quickly and are just as good mothers to their babies as older mums?
oh YES, there are some real good young moms, I some teen moms who are MUCH better parents then some 30yr olds. Age is a stupid steryotype. A mom can be any age, old or young. Teen moms mature fast because well..we have too, lol. My kids are very well taken care of, they are happy and healthy, and I feel im just as good of a mom as anyone is.

7.Who do you blame for teenagers becoming pregnant and why? (e.g mother, school, siblings)
Uhh yah its the girl and guys fault...199% (there may be the odd expection)..id say depending on how nieve the girl is, usualy the guy, theyre the one who usualy pushes ***, and says its 'better' w/out condom, and yah if a girl will risk it, then yah its her issue

8. Do you think that teen mothers or their children have problems later in life?
Well in my personal experiance. My mother did. She had a big mid life crises (well she was like 32) and i havent even heard from her in almost 10yrs (but she had 5 kids by 22yrs). it really just depends on the person. I know more young moms who have done good in life then i do moms who have crahsed and burnt.

These are actually some of the bst questions for teen pregnancy projects, because they are very general, no steryotypes, just opinions. Which does make it a little harder, but it'll just make for a better project!
Good Luck!!
