I am New to SFV |
I'm Brittney, I'm seventeen from the Boston area. I'm not actually a mom (yet), I just found out I am 7 weeks pregnat.
Here's my story: My mom died when I was 14 from cancer. She left me and my 3 sisters (1 older who's now 22 and 2 younger) and my 2 little brothers with our alcoholic father. Six months after she died my father got up and left in the middle of the night and we haven't heard from him since. So my older sister and I take care of our 4 younger siblings. Now I have no clue what to do. I am basically like a mother to my younger siblings and now I am pregnant. It is just a really wierd situation and I could use some people to talk to. Thanks, Brittney |

Hi Brittney and welcome. In a way you're a little more fortunate than other teen moms since you already have a little experience as a parent to your younger siblings. Enjoy the site and jump in anywhere.

Thanks guys. It is just so weird. This definately wasn't somthing I was expecting as a senior in high school. I still haven't told my sister yet, I want to wait until after Thanksiving. Holidays are always so stressful, just coming up with the money to have decent holidays is tough. We make it through though, with a lot of help.

I haven't told him yet either... He lives in New York. He's one of my best friends and we tried dating for a while, but it really didn't work out. I need to get my head on straight before I can tell him, I want to figure out what I'm doing first.

BSB - WELCOME.
Your storey amazes me. You shouldn't have to handle all that you have at such a young age. You have done it so far, so you must have amazing strength. I know it must seem so scarey, but hang in there. Talk to someone you trust first that knows your situation, then tell the father. Maybe he will be very supportive. |

Welcome BSB,
Wow, I am amazed at the strength you have already shown. I'm sure it will serve you well in the road that lies ahead. This is great place to vent and get opinions. I hope we are able to help in some small way. Rob |

I'm scared to tell my sister. She has such high hopes for me. She was in college when my mom died and when dad left, she dropped out to come back home to raise us. She thinks she threw her life away and she dosen't want me to do the same... I don't want her to look down on me because she's the only person I really have.

Brittney,
I know how it is, the feeling that eats at you from the inside. One of the scariest things I ever had to do was tell my parents (strict catholics) that I was pregnant. But after you tell someone you will feel a million times better. You have been through so much, your sister will probably be much more supportive then you think. You should also really tell the father. I think he has the right to know that he is going to have a son or a daughter. |

Brittany, welcome! I'm also from the boston area.
Do tell your sister and don't worry about what she thinks of you, clearly she loves you and the two of you have done a lot together as for taking care of your younger siblings. You need somebody to talk to about this and a friend/sister could be just the thing. I'm glad you found us here, there are tons of teen mom's and at least one teen dad on board here! Ask away with any questions and take care of yourself and that baby |
