I'm not a TEEN mom but i am a mom and i mustsay i am so impressed with the stories that i have read hear today ....the scarafices that most of you have made, the struggles you've endured the hardship you've overcome, the responsiblities that you have so gracefully embraced ...i too have a story and can relate to how hard it can be but the reason im so impressed is because bieng a mom is one the most challenging things i've ever experinced,,, love my daughter with every thing in me ,, i am 25 ,,pretty stable and it's trying for me ,,so as teens i know you guys muse face the same challenges and ..then some ,,,,you desrves recongnition because unfortunatly all teen moms do not except this responsibity so gracefully ,,,,they still want to live for themselves ,,,children end up bieng negleted, abused, mistreated, abandoned, and resented ,,,i know a 15 year old with a son whose never ever been to a dr ,,,never had a shot, never been to a park all because his mom refuses to take responsiblity she strips and leaves him at the sitter for weeks on in.....just wanted to encourage you guys and tell you that your work is not in vien you continue to take god care of yourself and yuor children and i promise your the reward will TAKE....YOUR...BREATH....AWAY,,,keep ya head up : )

"Needs to Get Life" At A loss for Words - NOT! |
I'm more impressed with the teen moms here than I am some of the 30 something two-parent families I know! You all should be very proud of yourselves and liek NEAK said, your rewards will come, but I'm guessing you already see that looking into their little eyes!

I would like to thank you for recognizing teen moms. Most people look down on us for not being married and having kids. Many think that teens cannot possibly be good mothers. People also belive that if you are a teen mother, your life is automatically over. None of that is true. Some teens are better mothers than some 30 year olds. Sometimes a little encouragement is just what we need. thank you.

"Parent on Board" Parent on Board |
I agree with loveofmine... I was actually just writing a paper for my journalism class about this very topic. The paper was a reflection article on yourself.
In that I wrote: "People sometimes judge me too quickly and just see me as a loser, *a loose woman* who has made too many mistakes in her life. But that's not who I am. I am Holly Marie Gassner. I am a woman, a mother, a daughter, a sister, a girlfriend and a friend. I am hard working, independent, stubborn at times, loving, caring and a perfectionist. I work hard to get what I want. I really don't see myself as all that different then most other teenagers out there, and I do most of the same things that most others do. I still worry about school and stress over college applications. I still have dreams for my future like any other "normal" teenager. The only real difference for me is that I had to grow up and learn how to be an adult faster then most do. So many people look at me and just think of all my mistakes, but I would never look at my daughters and call them mistakes. I believe everything happenes for a reason and I am truly blessed to be a mother to these wonderful little girls. Being a mother saved my life, and my daughters were the best things that ever happened to me. Thats who I am. I am a mother, a teen mother. And I would never change anything. |

I am New to SFV |
I am new to this site and already love it! I am a teen mom. I become pregnant at 15. I decided then that everything people, and even some of my own family said I couldn't do, I do, and do it better that normal teens. I attended everyday and maintained excellent grades while I was pregnant. I had my son Kaden when I was 16 in July of 2003. I returned back to high school in August. I moved to a Technical school in August to get my high school diploma and because I had enough credits and they did block classes there I was able to graduate a year early, my 11th grade was in the fall semester, and 12th grade was in the spring semester of 2004. I maintained a 20 hr a week job while going to school and taking college courses to get a start on my college hours. I graduated with the #1 GPA in my class, and was valedictorian. I have went on to college, I am in my second year, and going to get my LPN. I then plan on getting my Bachelors (RN), and then my Masters. It will all come in time, but I know what I want and I'll do what I have to, to get it. I must say though that my mother supported me. Even though I lived on my own and cared for Kaden on my own, she helped me survive financially with bills, and rent. If it wasnt for her helping I dont know what I would have done. And Kadens dad, who was 18 when he was born, is a excellent dad. He has been through trials with drug abuse but came out clean and has become the best provider for Kaden. THe thing I hate most to hear is people on tv, and all over say that its just so hard to be a teen mom, and that you have to give up everything. The only thing I gave was selfishness, and immaturity, which has taught me better not worse. I learned that you dont have to rich, and wear nice clothes to be happy. I stopped worrying about myself, and the clothes, and trips, and cd, and etc. that I wanted and learned to care for someone else. If I didnt have my son I wouldnt have learned all that I have, and I am very greatly to see his smile every morning.
*** Don't ever give up because the 1st that comes after the dark is the sunrise. |

Hi i just want to say i agree with you i was and am in the same boat i became pregnant at 15 and everyone i thought was a friend turned their back on me i ended up living on my own and doing everything for self and child. In a way it is the best thing that people have ever done for me, i had to grow up and fast look after a house and make sure jake {my son} had the best. i had to give up school but now i am back on track i am doing a course at the moment and hopefully continue on to a better course and eventually come of benefits and make a life for my little family. I admire you for not given up i know it can be tough but in the end its worth it all in the long run.

Learning to Surf The Board |
Hey good work everybody. I got pregnant 1 month before I turned 18 and it can be very hard especially when the father deserts you. My mom and dad only helped me until my daughter was 10 months old then i was on my own. I had at least 3 people telling me to put up my baby for adoption. The father did because he hated kids, my friend did because she thought I wouldnt be able to handle it and my brother did because he thot i would kill myself later in my life. But now my little Evee is 9 and i've never given up on her. Woo for teen mums!
