I am the single mother of a 6-year-old boy. Most of the literature that I have found is on helping children deal with divorce. It is true that my ex-husband and I are divorced, but that isn't the problem. My son was only 18 mos. old at the time of the divorce and has absolutely no recollection of his father. I want to be honest with my child, but I also want to do what is right for him. The books that address divorce talk mostly about how to handle telling the child and how help the child deal with issues about being with one parent and not the other or going from one home to another.
I am looking for any resource that will give me information about how to help my child deal with the absence of a father. If anyone has any information as to where I can turn for help, I would really appreciate it.

Hey mph_101,

There is a page at Single Parents Network
located at
http://singleparentsnetwork.com/books.html
I wrote some brief summaries to the book see if any there would help.

And if you get the chance, Please stop by our Book Review Forum here and give all that stop by an idea of what books you have read and what you thought of them.

I would think that would help so many people out there looking for books too.

Peace
Robin

i found a great book for single moms. It's called the complete single mom. It's great it gives normal everyday advice on children but also advice on finances, school etc.. Also if you go to Amazon.com and type in the search section Single Parents or Single mother they will give you a great list of books (advice books and novels) about and for single moms and parents. Hope this helps
