I have 2 children’s and they’re very active, they love’s to play and run, they also likes watching T.V such like (sponge bob and Dora the explorer) and sometimes it really make me feel tired and drained. I was thinking to buy some educational videos for my children’s because they love animation.

Absolutely!!! My kids learned a lot from Sesame Street and educational shows like that. There's nothing wrong with needing a break once and awhile either. Once you've rested and recharged a bit, you're a much more fun mommy!

another idea...if they're old enough and capable, computer games. My son started playing them at 4 and he loves it! Helps a lot with his learning too. Oh, Vtech for the tv is awesome too. It's interactive with the kids!

See if the cable/satellite company you use offers the Noggin channel. My daughter has learned SOOO much from the shows on there. It's Preschool on TV, basically. It's all learning shows for young toddlers with NO commercials other than to promote the channel itself. No toy commercials or juice commercials, etc. like regular Nickelodeon or Disney channel stuff.

The shows on Noggin were developed by Nick, Jr. but have been put together on this channel specifically for parents of young children who want a learning environment for their child. They have Blue's Clues, Dora the Explorer, The Backyardigans, The Wonderpets, The Upside Down Show, Lazy Town, and several others your kids will love.

My daughter has learned lots of songs, and her shapes and colors from some of these shows, and they helped her with her letters and numbers while I was teaching her as well. I'm trying to get her to learn to write her letters and numbers now, so I bought little dry-erase workbooks from a local educational supply company.

Hope that helps.

Angela

tobi is two and we have a dr. seuss computer game for my mac which he loves. he just picks a letter and the program goes to that page in the book Smiler

as far as educational videos, i say they are definitely fine! and much better than cartoons. cartoons just keep going and aren't always educational, but the videos have an end.

And we all need that recharge so try not to beat yourself up for having needs too!

I recommend if you can afford it to invest in getting your child a Leappad. My 3 yr old daughter loves her My First Leappad, and will sit down for almost an hour to play with it. This child is the active type that thinks running around in circles chasing her tail is fun! You can get lots of different books for it. Encourages reading, writing, fine motor controls, matching, following instructions, shapes, colors, counting, etc etc. I love it because she's quiet for a while with it, its not tv, and I can get some work done..

Another kids show you can get on VHS or DVD is VeggieTales - these are great for all ages, and teach values and self-esteem.
