Is the weight limit on diapers correct? I use Pampers-love 'em. Usually if a baby leaks out the back of the diaper, that's a sign you need to move up a size right? Well I've had to change her clothes twice today so far because of leaking out the back. She's in a Pampers 3,which is 17-28(? I think 28) lbs. She is 17lbs right now. Should I go for the next size up?

Personally I never liked Pampers. I prefer Loves. Is she leaking out the back when they are dry? Or is it the more solid kind? Most of my kids went through a faze where one poop in a clean diaper and it was all over the place. It passed as they got older and a little more regular. If she is 17 pounds and they go up to 28 pounds going up in size probably won't help, just create more space for leaking. You could try snugging them up on her bottom more. During the leak faze of poops I have taken cloth diapers and put it under the other to help hold it in. Hope I helped.
Good luck.

I also like Luvs diapers... they don't leak like Pampers and they're a lot cheaper. If your baby is on her back a lot and she's in the runny poop stage, then that could be the cause. Try what toomany suggested. Also, if it's not poop, then change her more often. She may be drinking a lot and just peeing more. That's when the cheaper Luv's really come in handy!

Jack always broke out when I put luvs on his bottom. He did well with the ones that were more like cloth, I think they breathed more on his skin. I got coupons for Huggies supreme all the time after I registered on their website..like $3.00 off!!! http://www.huggies.com/na/offers/promo/mail/index.asp Also sent me coupons for wipes.

He'd only leak out the top of the back when I'd feed him prunes..

Here's a website for free diapers too..

Don't know if that makes sense, but maybe the diapers are too large. If size 3 starts at 17lbs, then size 2 probably goes to 20lbs or so.
Also, how tall (long ?) is she, I have a chart that shows that a 17 lbs baby that is taller than 30in tends to wear one size down (probably because it's skinnier overall ?).

Um no I think the diapers are probably a tad too big. If she is 17 lbs. and the diapers are for 17-28 then they are probably too big. That's what it would seem like to me, but who knows. I would say you need to but her in a size 2 like dre said.

I always got leaks when I used Pampers and Huggies, they were given to me at my shower. When I started to buy diapers myself, I realized how expensive they were, and I bought Luvs. They are the most inexpensive name brand and I think they work the best and I have never had leaks with them. I also think that their sizes are more accurate.

Maybe I will switch to Luvs. I've never really had a problem with Pampers in the past, but size 2 are definatley too small for her. Thanks for the input!

Oh and Commander Leftover...THANK YOU for those diaper links. You rock. Smiler

I had a problem with Pampers making Jessica sore and had to treat her with plenty of cream. But now I use Huggies pull-ups so she can be a big girl and don't have problem.I also found the inexpensive brands used too much bleaching agent in manufacture which made her skin sore.
But she only uses them at night now,but gradually being weaned off them.

I know this post is way late, but the only diapers I had success with are Huggies. Not the Supremes, just regular Huggies. Luv's leaked and the straps broke a lot, and Pampers just wouldn't fit right. Plus, Pampers have too much perfume in them for me. I guess every baby is shaped differently though, and it's probably more of a trial and error situation with each kid.
