Got a quick question...is it normal for a 7 month old baby to be standing on his own, without holding on to anything? This morning, my son stood on his own, not holding on to anything, without falling. It wasn't a fluke either because he kept doing it over and over! I'm not ready for this, thought I had a couple more months. Oh man, what if he starts walking!!!!???

It is perfectly normal my two were walking by 10 months and off the bottle they didn't want it anymore. Just make sure you have sharp corners covered.

I also have a 2 1/2yr old so my house is completely baby proofed. It's just that the first time my older son stood on his own(at 10 months), he took his first steps later that same day. I don't know what I would do with a 7 month old walking, it just sounds crazy to me! It's probably my fault anyway cuz he goes in his walker already and stands in that and walks backwards in it. I've never even heard of a 7 month old walking. He doesnt even crawl, just does this inchworm thing. This is just crazy!

My first was walking at 8 months so it's possible...although he was banging his head on chairs, tables, legs, couches, toys, the floor...lol...I was a nervous wreck.
Hopefully your little one will have better balance :-).
Breath deep and set up the baby gates ;-)

Hi Mamasteph,
If he starts walking. You had better put your skates on and start running Smiler Because nothing will be safe Frowner
Oh, the joys of toddlers and the effect they have on doors and toothpaste and.... the list goes on and on.It will certainly keep you fit.

Hang in there and get a pair of roller blades,

Hugs,

Mark

My daughter was standing up on her own at 8 or 9 months. Didn't walk until 13 months.
My son didn't do either until much, much later. Believe me, if you think that your home is already baby proof - the second child will prove to you that it isn't. It's amazing how one always out-does the other!

AHHHHH!!! Don't tell me that!! I have nothing out in my house. It's like bare bones in here. I don't think there is a baby proofing item I havent bought! I even have these gates that are made for the windows so your child cannot fall out the window. I kind of went child proofing crazy when I had my first son. And you are probably right, if I know my luck, my second son is going to find the one thing I didn't think of. I remember when my first son started walking-what a nightmare-I thought I had more time with the second one. 7 months old-this isn't fair!!

My son was walking at 8 months!! It was weird. He climbed out of his crib at 10 months. We never knew where we would find him if we left the nursery door open. Once under the dining room table asleep.

My daughter started standing around 6 or 7 months. She is now 9 months and has started walking a little bit. Now she can almost walk all the way across the living room without falling.
