At A loss for Words - NOT!
Posted
Next Thursday! I wasn't this sad with Olivia last year but I am totally emotional about this round. They start with the morning session. They will be taken back to daycare by their daycare teacher afterwards. I'm at a total loss. I can't imagine not picking them up after their very first day at K (I don't work Fridays so I can drop off AND pick up the second day).

I keep thinking I'll sneak out of work to get them but then I know I have to bring them to daycare anyway..... And Olivia will also go back to dc after first grade. So won't be fair to pick up M&D and not my older one a few hours later. So I won't. I will have them take the van for that first day I guess.

Just feeling totally and completely guilty and sad, I so want to see those beautiful smiles running out of their very first day of Kindergarten...... but not sure it makes sense when I know I'll see it the 2nd day.

Am I being totally silly and sappy Mommy here?

Your not being sappy. I think I would pick them up.
Im lucky, my oldest starts kindergarten this year, but I signed her up for the all day kindergarten at their daycare. She was in the same class (unofficialy) the 2nd half of last year. So its really not much of a change for us.

No I agree with you. My son starts kindergarten as well. Unfortunately, his 'van' isn't able to pick him up being that he'll be in full day K so I either have to find someone or hire one. Time is getting close! Also, because of my schedule, I have to drop him off in the mornings at my neighbour's house. So I can't drop him off AND pick him up at the school. I'm REALLY not likeing that.

We just have to let it go. We can only do our best.

You are not being sappy at all. I was able to drop my son off for his first day and was not able to pick him up at the end. He went to daycare. It was hard but I made it thru somehow L!

As long as you can hear about thier GREAT day over dinner then it still makes it worth while.

Don't shed to many tears until you get into your car. That is when I let the flood gates open LOL.

I feel horrilbe b/c my son starts 3rd grade and moves from his very small elementary to a huge intermideate school. Up to grade 6! I can't be there after school to pick him up and I am not able to have lunch w/him either. Oh well at least I get to drop him off b4 school starts and spend a few minutes w/him. I can hear about his GREAT day during supper!

Good luck to everyone that has children starting school!

LOL @ Leftover w/the head lice thing....my kids unfortunately got it from daycare a few times and it was a disaster!
I look forward to taking my kids to school and picking them up..but some mornings I am so tired its all we can do to be on time. See, I work 3-11 PM during the week so I can do this, and try to volunteer in the school with their classrooms as much as possible. Sometimes I want a day job, but then I couldnt do anything with them at school hardly ever, not to mention have time for doc appointmenst and so on...oh, and my kids started back August 15, I know it varies depending on where you live....
