My little girl is almost 2 and half.
She says alot of words but we want to help her down the road a little. Anyone have any great ideas on how help a 2 year olds speech and vocabulary along??
Most of the time we understand what she means but at times we all get frustrated because we just cant figure out what the hell shes saying LOL
Some things she can say without the last letter or 2, for example bea for bear......
she uses animal sounds when talking about an animal....we got to a dairy farm around her and instead of saying cow she says MOO!
she uses sign language alot, for a bird she flapps her arms up and down.......
She knows most of her letters, numbers, all her animals and colors so were not worried about any problems. shes ahead of the game just refuses to say them!! lol
so to help keep the frustration down on all our parts, i was curious of any suggestions how others helped build thier childs speech,vocabulary.............

thanks in advance!
Lesley

give her time. Kids learn at there own rate. I sell educational toys that might help but I live in california. If you'd be interested check out discovery toys on the internet... YA NO COMMISIONS FOR ME Frowner but I'll live. think about it.

thanks for the relpy.........
naaaaaa. no pushing here though. Just want to keep the interest of new words to her, and keep the encouragement going, all without boring her over and over again with the same toy or book ya know??
i lose interest in things when i get bored LOL So just want to keep her enthusiasm up, and interests of things around, and to help break down some frustration LOL
but thanks for the tip!!

angelsmommy,

It looks like it's been awhile since your post here but I was wondering how your daughter is doing now?

I have a 2 and 1/2 yr old and she is saying more words but also still babbles stuff. We were at the grocery store the other night and I told her she was going to be in trouble if she didn't stay close and she wasn't listening at all. So I grab her arm and squeeze a bit so she gets really mad and says loudly, "bla bla bla TROUBLE!!" Actually it made me laugh. But she still surprises me with new things and sentences. I am working on colors right now. And it's funny cause I was a little worried because she never babbled all that much as a baby or when she was one. So now she's really taking off in the past 3 months. Now it's potty training time too! Razzer

Hi there!!!!
Glad to your little one is doing good and still surprising. Angel suprises me ALLLL the time but she is talking up a storm, her vocabulary took off like a lightening rod. Not full sentences yet but shes getting there. Shes excelling on every other avenue though so im not worried. She can name and identify all her colors and the whole alphabet identify almost every animal out there, shes currently working on her numbers and i dont have to remind her to say thankyou or please and shes starting to use the potty all by herself, shees miss little independent, lol. Although, some things are rough, i just know shes doing pretty good, Congrats on your little one!!! Even if slowly but surely, well be telling them to be quiet before we know, espeicially when they start the teen years. =)
Talk to you soon!!!!
