Hello all I just have one quick question. Mya is coming up to 11 months and I want to take completely off the bottlte at 12 months. Just a personal preference. She drinks mainly out of a sippy cup now, but she likes her bottle at bed. I would like to slowly start cutting out the going to bed with a bottle, I don't mind her having one before, just not when she is laid in her crib. She gets strictly formula out of a bottle and juice and water from a cup. Any advice on how to make this transtition easier? I think that it will a few crappy nights, similar to when I took her soother away, but I am prepared for that. I just want to make it better for her. Thanks, Jayme

JG,
I do not have so much advice, I do not think. My daughter was 2 1/2 before she was completely off the bottle. She did everything else so easily (spit out the paci at 6 months, weaned at 9 months, potty train at 18 months, solid foods no problem, etc.) and she was so passionate about her morning bottle. Well her father and I (yes still married at the time) went away for the weekend. Her sitter was not accustom to giving her a bottle and she never asked for one. When we came back her sitter told me she found the bottles that afternoon in her bag but she did not give her one all weekend. Well when we got home all her bottles were "given to the babies". Never a problem. Your baby is so much younger I do not know if this will work. My daughter also was never allowed to sleep or walk around with a bottle. I do not know if this is the case with yours having a night time bottle but that may make it harder.
Good luck!
Carla

Wow. I didn't have any problem at all. When we switched to sippy cup, the bottles went away. *shrug* Good luck, though.

I feel for you, the bed time bottle was the worst for my little one to give up as well. Try a new bedtime routine, that is what we did. I would sit with her and read a book while she had a sippy of something to drink and then put her to bed. That way she still had her full tummy but wasnt sucking on a bottle while sleeping and ruining her teeth.
