My daughter recently had a diaper rash. I put cream and everything on it and it was gone in 2 days. 3 days later it was back but only this time it didnt matter what I did...it just wouldnt go away. I went through about 4 days of trying to figure out if it was what she ate or the cream or maybe the diapers. Yes she had some teeth cutting through but everything I have read online said there is nothing to support diaper rash while teething. It went away after a week and a half but just wanted someone elses opinion on this....Thanks

I think the jury is out amongst pediatricians on the diaperrash/teething issue. If it is a really bad rash it can be a yeast infection (a bit different from the ones we get but that diaper breeds a warm, damp dark place for it to grow.

I remember my oldest had one and they told me to buy the liquid Maalox and you can just pour it right onto the tushie. It cools the skin just like it cools off the stomach I guess.

If it persists, give the ped a call, you might be able to get something a bit stronger than the regular ointments.

Also, if you aren't already be sure the skin is TOTALLY dry before putting any ointment on or it will just lock in that moisture that is the problem to begin with. Use a damp cloth instead of the baby wipes and if you are brave, let her go a bit without a diaper on, the air is really good for it.

Thank you for your response. I did end up getting some antifungal cream and that took care of it really fast. I was also brave enough to take off the diaper for about 5 min when the puddle formed. I am just hoping it wont happen with every tooth that comes in. Thanks again

Some are just more prone to it. My oldest got a lot of it, my twins didn't but they have ongoing rash issues now everywhere but thereLOL

I hope that was the worst of it and now you have the creme to stop it in its tracks early. No fun when it is hurting them Frowner
