Arts and crafts, baby! Stringing popcorn for the Christmas tree (or, if you don't celebrate Christmas, stinging popcorn just for kicks!), making homemade clay (flour, salt, and water) or slime (Elmer's glue, cornstarch, and water - there are recipes on the web), making storybooks with pictures cut out of magazines... Even making snowflakes out of paper (assuming you've got toddler-safe scissors).

Hope that helps!

Well with my two year old twins (boys) and with my three year old daughter, I have come up with several things that I have found to keep them occupied with and with out me.
1)I allow them to "paint the walls" I give them small cups with water and paint brushes and allow them to "paint"
2) I bought activity books that allow the kids to paint pictures with just water and they can do that with or without paint brushes one of my twins uses his fingers instead of the brush and it is non toxic so even if he puts his fingers in his mouth while he paints there is no real concern.
3) I also found non toxic crayons and scrap paper can keep them amused and grandparents love to have special drawings from the kids.
4) I bought my daughter washable non toxic markers to draw pictures to so even if they mark tables walls it is still easy to clean up
5) I also have bought a small broom and spray bottles and filled them up with water so when I am cleaning if the kids want to help they can I tell them to wash the table, doors, windows It helps to keep them busy while I am doing other things like dusting or moping the floors in another room. And sometimes they actually do help to clean and when they don't it is not a major thing nor have they been exposed to dangers.
I hope this helps you some. Trust me it is hard to keep the kids ammused especially during the winter. I also on occasion allow the kids to turn the living room into a "park" I get thier little slide and thier tricycles and bikes and allow them to ride them thru the house, it becomes noisy and wild in the house but it helps to keep the occupied and becomes a special treat for them since I only do it every two or three weeks.
Good Luck keeping your little one ammused and occupied.
