I have a question for everyone. I have a two year old little boy, now I have had his hair in a mohawk for about 7 months. I spike it up and I think he looks adorable. I get the rudest comments from people. I have actually had people ask me, "what kind of a mother are you" someone at my older sons preschool told me that I wasn't promoteing a Godly home enviornment and being a Godly example for my children. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?! It took everything in me not to just tell that stupid lady off. I just don't get it, I can't go anywhere whithout complete strangers telling me how they feel about my childs HAIR! Maybe I am wrong, but I don't think so, it's just hair! Anyways...Thanks for letting me rant!

"Life is full of second chances...." At A loss for Words - NOT! |
On a similar note, I myself have a rant......again.....LOL
I went to the mall last weekend with a couple friends of mine and my son. My friends are engaged to be married etc etc etc, so they are all holding hands and lovey dovey.....makes me want to vomit due to my situation, but I dealt with it =)..... ANYWAYS, my son is walking with us and I am pushing his stroller, carrying his coat, and he is even holding my hand from time to time, and people would approach my friends and tell them how cute their boy was. This happened 4 damn times. Every time they said he's not ours, and the person would say, "Oh sorry", look at me and just walk away. I was insulted. It made me feel like being a single father was unacceptable or something. I already feel weird being out with him alone, because I feel like people are probably thinking that it is my turn with visitation or something. But anyway, that is my rant...not about hair, but about people and their stereotypical idiocracies that they like to impose on others. http://www.myspace.com/nottawd "to be nobody-but-myself in a world which is doing its best, night and day, to make me everybody else means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight, and never stop fighting..." --e.e. cummings |

I know how you feel TD, I was in the grocery store a couple months back with all my kids. They were being horrible, it was nap time and they were all whineing and just being kids really. This lady walked to me and said "that's why children need fathers." As if it were my choice to have their father walk out on us. And why is it that when women find out my ex has three kids and they think it's sweet, but when men find out I have three kids they can't get away from me fast enough? I could go on for hours...

SFV JUNKIE!!! |
LOL...I dont know about you, TD...I used to ( AND STILL DO,...LOL ) Take my daughter(s) shopping cause women think it's really sweet and attractive...and they TELL ME SO! LOL
Maybe when you're with your friends, you should stand a little further away from them, so it's less likely to happen. I'm sure you know by now, that a cute little baby attracts lots of hotties. Ok..some old bats, too...LOL Oh, and 4strong, next time some old beotch says something like that, tell her to get away from you before you set them loose on her! LOL I'm a man of many mysteries and sides....SO many I'm practically round!! |

Parent on Board |
I have experience that first hand. In one of my trips to a Theme Park I took my daughter and my niece (6 and 10 at the time)for the weekend, when I checked in the hotel I got a disaproving look from the receptionist and she said with a condescending tone why her mom lets me take my children alone. It was late and the kids wanted to go to the pool so I did not say anything.
Women did hit on me more often when my daughter was younger and I was married than now that I am divorced and available. And Amy, you do not need anyone else to tell you how wonderful you are all you have to do is look at the 3 wonderful people that you have with you to be certain of it. But I know it is nice to hear it from someone else too. |

"OCD for SFV" Board Beacon Parent |
I sometimes get the "you're too young" comments from people. Mostly, people don't think I'm as old as I am. I worked a temp-job over the Christmas break (I was substituting full time then for the schools) and my boss kept asking me how old I was too have as much experience as I did. He thought was 22 or 23. He asked me EVERYDAY for the first week I was there.
I'm 30, I had my oldest when I was 22, my daughter when I was 26. I've EARNED my years, and I've got the scars to prove it, LOL. Give me credit, people! Angela's Myspace _________________________________________ Life is a parade of fools.... and I'm at the front twirling the baton. |

This is me. I have a young face and am frequently getting looks from people that scream "cheerleader in trouble" or that is what i call it (not, nor ever was a cheerleader). it drives me up the wall! either that, or people think i'm the nanny, which probably explains why i do get hit on. http://web.mac.com/heidihannah/iWeb/heidi%20hannah/Welcome.html Frankly Scallop, I don't give a clam! |

I have the other problem as I'm 54 and my 3 youngest are 9, 8, and 5. People think they are my grandkids.

I just get the odd looks.
That's probably thanks to a disasterous exprience with "temporary" hair dye that turned parts of my hair pink..the nosering and tattoos. I live in suburbia...lmao...nuff said. |

I think spiked up hair on little boys is so cute! My son is pretty conservative (he's only 8!) and freaks if I even suggest spiking his hair up a little bit. So, have fun with his hair while you can and next time someone says something to you tell them to mind their own business. Drives me nuts when people that don't know you think that they can tell you what is right for you or your kids...
So we have established that guys can go shopping with their kids to meet hotties...I want to know where can women go with their kids to meet hotties??? |
