Since you are all sharing your stories of masks and scaring children, I thought I would share one of my own.

My dad has a mask that Kai absolutely hates when my dad puts it on. It's one with big scary eyes, sharp teeth, grey skin, etc. Well my stepmom put it on one day while watching Kai, I was not home, i was actually out with a GUY> LOL

So she puts the mask on, and stands in her DARK bedroom and when Kai comes around the corner, she jumps out and scares the **** out of Kai. So for about 3 months, Kai wont go into their bedroom or somewhere where it is dark.

LOL Tom and Tracy scared the wits out of Katie and Alex a few years back. They told the kids that Tom was going to the store or something then he parked his truck down the driveway where they couldn't see it. He then doubled back and picked up his chainsaw. The whole time, Tracy was telling the kids about some bogus local urban legend about a chainsaw killer. They were sitting in the living room when Tom started up the chainsaw under the window. I guess they both took off so fast that Alex just bowled Tracy over altogether. LMAO! Tracy went to the back of the house to tell them it was alright and they thought there was something wrong with her because she had tears streaming down her face and she was bent over holding her stomach.

I'm just sorry I missed the fun.

Since we're sharing...

Two years ago when I was taking my son trick or treating there was I'd say 13 yr old boy w/ a scary pirahana type mask on (my son was 5 at the time). He tried to scare him to the point that I was getting really PO'd and ready to say something to the kids parents (we did not know them, just walking around the same area). The kid finally got the hint and backed off...and my son had fun the rest of the night.

Last year my son wanted to be a knight and nothing else. So we put together a knight costume and he looked quite cute. As we trick or treated through the same neighborhood as last year and as we made it around the final corner of the neighborhood, getting the last treats for the night...my son went up to a house to get his treats and as he was grabbing the candy...guess who popped out? Pirahana Boy! My son jerked his hand up that was carrying the sword and caught the kid in the stomach. (He was okay.)

I told my son to come to me and apologize to the kid. Without blinking an eye, he handed the kids father back the candy, turned on his heel and said "I'm not sorry! He scared me and maybe now he won't do it to me again!" I began to wonder when I was going to get a lecture from the kids father when I turned and saw him grabbing the mask off the kid and telling him to get in the house. Apparently the father had told the kid not to do it in the first place because of complaints from the previous year. He also didn't give him much sympathy either.

After all was said and done, and we ate our share of treats, my son looked up at me while I was tucking him into bed and he said "Now you know why I wanted to be a knight!"

Kinda freaked me out at first...but then I laughed....

He's already, and will continue to be, duly warned before we go out this year.
