Hi.

I'm a 19 year old dad of a daughter who is 1 year old.

I'm not EXACTLY a single dad, but I am a single dad FOR NOW. I'm still with her mom (sort of) but right now we don't live together because she has health problems and is staying with her parents so she can get covered by their health policy. We are not married or anything. We only lived together for about six months, and we've been living apart since our daughter was 4-5 months.

I attend college part time and I sometimes (like twice a week or something) work with my brother who is a house painter.

Right now we only see my daughter's mom on the weekends and sometimes Fridays if I don't have a job to go to. My daughter's name is Makayla by the way.

I would be happy to meet other young dads because there don't seem to be a lot of us out there. Or just young parents in general. I'm tired of stupid stereotypes. We're all just parents doing whatever we think is best for our kids. It doesn't have to be a big deal about our age all the time.

Hi Lucas,
Welcome to the site. Don't worry so much about age stereotypes. We all have our jobs to do, raising kids, doesn't matter what year we were born, it matters that our kids were born and we have that responsibility to take care of. Glad to hear that you are taking care of yours. I hope that college goes well for you on top of raising your child and working. That house painting can be hard way to earn money, when you can use your brain instead. I'm a remodel contractor and I love it, but I'm always instilling into my daughter to do well in school and go to college to work smarter not harder. Good luck.
Don
