I am new to this. I am a stay at home mom to 2 young kids. I mainly stay at home because we can not afford childcare (we can barely pay our bills) and we have no support monitarily, physically, or mentally from anyone. Our situation is not a good one, and I don't know how much more I can take, not to mention I worry about the kids.

We have no assetts, no money, nothing... just the 2 kids. Can anyone help? I don't know the first thing to do. I want to leave. I haven't worked since 2004, and with 2 kids I am scared about how I am going to house and feed them! Not to mention I am also a bit frightened about retaliation from my husband, his family and some of the shady people they know. We live in a small rural area in Maine.

I don't know where else to turn, please help me. Where do I start? Who do I contact? What do I do? Frowner

Type in Maine domestic violence services. Get the numbers call them and get out. They have programs to protect women and families of domestic violence verbal or physical. Plan when you are going to leave. Get everything you cannot live without and go. Good luck!

Also, there is help out there for housing and fod and money. Do not be afraid get out. I was in a violent situation at one time and getting out was the best thing I ever did. You need to protect yourself to protect your kids. Hang in there.

Go to your local social services office. If you are afraid of the husband, many states have funds for relocating you and giving you a 30-60 day living expense in order to get away. They will also hook you up with job planning, state benefits, and other resources that might come in handy.
