I am New to SFV |
I am new here. My son is six months old and I asked his father to leave 2 months ago. He could not keep a job and would lie and say he was working but was not...then he'd have my car and be late picking up the baby. Not to mention I supported him for over a year.
Up until 3weeks ago, he saw our son every week or so (but would take off in between and I wouldn't know where he was.) I just found out that he has moved in with some girl and he has made no attempt to see his son. I want to get his last name off of MY SON. The only contact I have is this new girlfriends cell phone. She will not answer, despite the fact that I only want an address to give the court and his consent to change Avery's name. I told her that once I have that I WILL NEVER CONTACT THEM AGAIN! I mean it, but he will not respond. Coward, bum. So I do not want him back, but the weekends are killing me. My son falls asleep by 7pm and the tears and heart ache start. I have some good friends, who come by to hang out once in awhile and my mom is great and watches him over night sometimes. I have support and I know that I am lucky, but I am hurt, angry, sad. Confused...I dont know how to handle the courts with no contact info for the deadbeat. What's worse right now....6:52pm on Friday night.......and on the GD Computer...so lonely. |

I kind of went thru the same thing. I changed my sons last name from his fathers to mine when he was about 7 months old. If you go to court and file out the paper work and pay the fees you can have him served at the last known or best known address that you have for him. You also have to post the change in the newpapaer as they feel it should be public knowledge I guess. Anyways if he does not show up at court to dispute the change then most likely the judge will grant the change. That is what happened in my case anyway. My sons father never disputed the change so the judge signed the paper and it was offical. I am in Massachusetts as well, Townsend (if you've heard of it) to be exact. If you would like to talk I'm open. Hopefully that info will help. What court do you have to use? I have to go to cambridge. Anyway, good luck!

Hi there...I see you are from MA. Me too.
I have no advice on the azzhat of a father. I just wanted to offer hugs to you. I too asked my DH to leave almost two months ago. Its tough. Especially on weekends. You aren't alone. I guess I'm lucky that my DH still takes our daughter every other weekend, so I do have some time to do my own thing. Just keep your chin up. It'll get easier. You will find things to do. Are most of your friends single and childless? I know mine are, so its hard for them to understand that after about 8:00 I can't really go out. |

I kind of know what you mean, except my son is a few months younger, so he doesn't have a regular bedtime yet. I moved back to New England after living in other states for the past six years, but all of my old friends from high school are gone so I really don't know anyone except for my family.
Matthew's father has never been around. Never met his son and lives about 12 hours away now with HIS new girlfriend, but I rarely even miss him. I guess since I spent my entire pregnancy alone that makes it a little bit easier. Anyway, I wish you good luck and I really just wanted to say that you aren't alone. I'm trying to get child support from Matthew's father, but we'll see how long THAT takes. |
